Real-Time Campaign Stats: reading the main screen

The Real-time link on a campaign shows you what's happening right now — dialable leads, hopper count, dropped calls, agents logged in. Here's how to read each number and what it tells you about your dialing.

Real-Time Campaign Stats: reading the main screen

When something feels off mid-shift — agents sitting idle, or too many calls dropping — you don't want to dig through a stack of historical reports. You want one screen that tells you what is happening right now. In VICIdial that screen is the real-time campaign view, and it is one click away from any campaign you manage. This post walks through how to open it and how to read the numbers that actually matter, so you can spot trouble early and act on it.

Finding the real-time screen

Open the Campaign you want to watch from the campaigns list. At the top of the modification page you'll see a small Real-time link sitting next to the Basic View and Detailed View links. Click it. The screen that opens is scoped to that one campaign and to today only — it is not a system-wide view, and it isn't carrying over yesterday's totals. That focus is the point: it's a snapshot of how this campaign is doing in the current minute, nothing more and nothing less.

If you want to understand how the live view fits into the bigger picture of pacing and lead supply, the VICIdial dialing strategies guide ties all of these screens together and explains why each number moves the way it does.

The numbers that matter most

A handful of counts on this screen will answer most of your day-to-day questions about whether the campaign is healthy:

  • Dialable leads — how many leads in the active lists still qualify to be called. When this drops toward zero, your agents are about to run dry and you need to activate another list.
  • Leads in the Hopper — how many are staged for the next minute or two of dialing. A near-empty hopper while dialable leads are high usually points at a loading problem, not a lead shortage.
  • Dropped calls — the count of calls that connected to a person but found no agent free. This is the number tied to your abandonment limits, so watch it closely all shift.
  • Agents and servers — how many agents are logged in and where they sit, so you can confirm staffing matches what you planned for the shift.

Think of the Hopper as a small, fast holding tray of leads ready to dial; the dialable-leads count is the much larger pool sitting behind it. Reading the two together is the fastest way to tell whether a stall is about supply or about loading. If both are high but agents are idle, the problem is usually your pacing, not your leads.

Turning a number into an action

The point of a Real-time report is to shorten the gap between noticing a problem and fixing it. If dialable leads are falling fast, you can activate another list before agents go idle. If the dropped-call count is climbing toward your limit, that's your cue to ease your pacing right away. Our walkthrough on how to lower your VICIdial drop rate covers exactly which settings to touch when that number gets too high.

Read these counts alongside your campaign settings and the screen becomes a steering wheel rather than a dashboard you glance at. Watch the relationship between agents waiting and calls waiting, and you'll feel when the pacing is right long before a report confirms it.

Once you're comfortable reading these numbers, the next habit is leaving this screen open on a side monitor during live shifts. It's the single best view for catching trouble while it's still cheap to fix. If you're still picking a managed host that gives every campaign a clean live view out of the box, see what's included on our pricing page.

Frequently asked

Where is the real-time campaign screen?
Open a campaign in the admin area and click the Real-time link near the top of the modification page. It shows live stats for that one campaign for the current day.
Does the real-time screen refresh by itself?
Yes. It updates on a short interval on its own, so you can leave it open on a monitor and watch the numbers move without reloading the page.
