Transfer-Conf Button Launch: opening a webform or tab when the Transfer button is clicked

Most transfer settings in VICIdial decide where a call goes. Transfer-Conf Button Launch is different: it decides what pops up on your agent's screen the instant they open the transfer frame. Turn it on and a webform or a tab fires automatically when the agent clicks the Transfer Conf button, so the handoff and the data load happen together.

What the setting actually does

A webform is just a URL VICIdial opens with lead data merged into it. With this feature enabled, clicking Transfer Conf triggers that webform or an agent screen tab on its own. The default is NONE, which means nothing launches and the agent works the transfer frame the normal way.

This is handy when your Closer needs to see a quote, a calendar, or a verification page the moment a transfer starts. Instead of telling the Agent to alt-tab and paste an account number, the page loads itself. It pairs well with a Warm transfer where the fronter stays on the line and reads details to the specialist while the screen catches up.

When to enable it

Reach for it when the transfer always needs the same companion screen. Think scheduling tools, payment portals, or a Web form that confirms the customer's identity before a specialist takes over. If your Fronter does five transfers an hour and each one needs the same tab, automating that click saves real time and removes a step people forget under pressure.

Leave it on NONE when transfers are simple. If the agent just sends the call to an Ingroup and drops out, an extra tab is clutter. The feature earns its keep only when the launched page is part of the workflow every single time.

Webform versus screen tab

The difference is where the page lands. A webform opens in its own window or browser tab, which suits an external CRM or scheduler that needs the full screen. An agent screen tab loads inside the agent interface itself, so the page sits next to the call controls and the agent never loses sight of the live call. For a fast handoff, the in-screen tab usually wins because there is no window juggling.

Either way, the page should accept the lead fields you feed it. VICIdial can merge values like the phone number, account ID, or Campaign into the URL, so the launched page already knows which customer it is about. That merge is what turns a generic link into a useful, context-aware screen the moment the transfer starts.

How the click flows

Setup notes

The setting lives in the campaign detail screen alongside the other transfer options. Pick the webform or the agent screen tab you want, save, and the next time an agent on that Campaign opens the transfer frame, the page fires. Test it with one agent first so you can confirm the URL merges the right lead fields before you push it to the floor.

One thing to plan around: this only controls what launches, not what happens to the disposition afterward. If you want agents to skip the wrap-up prompt on a handoff, that is a separate control covered in our note on the Transfer No Dispo setting. Keep the two straight so you do not enable the wrong one.

For the full picture of how every transfer control fits together, read our VICIdial transfers and closers guide. If you would rather skip the tuning and run a dialer where these handoffs are already configured sanely, check our pricing and we will set it up with you.
