How to turn on recording for an inbound group
VICIdial's In-Group Recording Override field lets you set a recording mode per inbound group, independent of the campaign default.
Campaign recording settings are a good default, but sometimes one Ingroup needs different recording behavior from the rest. The In-Group Recording Override field lets you set a per-group mode without touching the campaign.
In-Group Recording Override options
Go to Admin > In-Groups, edit the group, and find "In-Group Recording Override." The options mirror campaign recording modes:
- DISABLED — do not override; use the campaign recording setting (this is the default)
- NEVER — never record calls for this in-group, even if campaign says to record
- ONDEMAND — agent can start and stop recording with the recording button
- ALLCALLS — record every call; agent can still stop the recording
- ALLFORCE — record every call; agent cannot stop the recording
In-Group Recording Filename override
There is also an "In-Group Recording Filename" field. By default it is NONE, which means the group inherits whatever Campaign filename scheme is configured. If you set a custom value here, it accepts the same variables as the campaign field: CAMPAIGN, INGROUP, CUSTPHONE, FULLDATE, TINYDATE, EPOCH, Agent, VENDORLEADCODE, LEADID, CALLID, RECID, and the POST variants.
A common reason to set a per-group filename is to tag recordings from a priority support line differently from general inbound so they are easy to find in storage.
Stereo recordings and inbound groups
**Heads up:** Stereo recording settings do NOT inherit from the campaign to the in-group. If you want stereo recordings on inbound calls in a specific group, you must explicitly enable stereo on that in-group. Assuming it trickles down from the campaign is the most common mistake with inbound stereo recording.
