How to Create a QC Template Settings Container

Before VICIdial can route any call into quality control, it needs a QC status template to compare against. That template is not a separate screen of its own; it lives inside a settings container. This guide walks through creating that container and filling it with the dispositions you want reviewed, then explains what still has to happen before any call actually shows up for a reviewer.

What you are building

A settings container is a reusable bundle of settings you create once and attach in many places. For quality control you create one with the type QC_TEMPLATE. All it has to contain is a comma-delimited list of dispositions. A Disposition is the outcome an Agent selects when a call ends, so the container is really just a saved list of the call outcomes you want a reviewer to check. Because it is reusable, the same container can govern review across several campaigns at once rather than being re-built for each one.

The steps

  1. Open the settings containers area of the admin and choose to add a new container.
  2. Give it a clear container ID and name. Something like QC_SALES_REVIEW is far easier to recognise later than a vague label such as TEMPLATE1.
  3. Set the container type to QC_TEMPLATE. This is the part that tells VICIdial the container is a quality control status template and not some other kind of saved settings.
  4. In the container body, enter your dispositions as a comma-delimited list, for example SALE,DROP,DNC. Use the exact disposition codes your campaign already uses, with no extra spaces.
  5. Activate the container. An inactive container is not offered for selection anywhere in the admin.
  6. Save. The template is now available to pick wherever a status template can be set.

After you save

Creating the container does not move any calls on its own. You still have to assign the template to a Campaign, list, or Ingroup, alongside a scorecard, before calls start landing in the queue. Only then does a finished call whose Status (lead status) matches the list become eligible for review. Think of the container as a part you have made on the bench; it does nothing until it is bolted onto a real entity.

It is also worth keeping the list short to begin with. A container that names a handful of high-value outcomes is easy to reason about, and you can widen it later once you see how much volume each outcome adds to the queue. Editing the container after the fact is fine; the change takes effect for new calls without breaking anything already reviewed.

Type exactly the disposition codes that exist on your campaign. A typo means that outcome quietly never matches, and the calls you expected to review never appear in the queue, with no error to tell you why.

If you want the background on what this list does and how it picks calls before you build it, read VICIdial QC status template explained. For how the template fits into the full quality control flow, see VICIdial quality control explained.

Setting up quality control is the kind of housekeeping that pays off in fewer surprises later. VICIfast runs a managed VICIdial box where these features are ready to configure out of the box, live in under 40 seconds. See our plans and pricing.
