Why VICIfast is the fastest way to launch VICIdial

A plain comparison of the manual VICIdial route against VICIfast, and where the time actually goes when you set up a dialer.

Why VICIfast is the fastest way to launch VICIdial

Installing VICIdial by hand can take a day or more before you place a single call. On VICIfast, the server is built and your login is live in under 40 seconds.

That gap is not magic, it is just where the time goes. This post breaks down each route step by step, so you can decide which one matches how you actually work and what your time is worth.

The manual route

Doing it yourself means renting a VPS, installing Ubuntu, then running the VICIdial installer against Asterisk. That part rarely goes cleanly the first time, and a stray version mismatch can cost you an afternoon. You also have to harden the box, set up HTTPS, and wire up the Keepalive processes that keep the dialer running.

  • Pick a host and provision a server, then wait for it to boot.
  • Install and patch the OS, then run the VICIdial build and fix whatever breaks.
  • Add TLS, a domain, and security hardening before you dare go live.

None of this is impossible, but each step is a place to get stuck. Most newcomers burn the most time on one-time configuration they will only ever do once, which is exactly the work that adds no value to running a campaign. Worse, a half-finished build can look fine until your first real call exposes a missing piece, and by then you are debugging under pressure.

The VICIfast route

With VICIfast, you choose a plan and pay. A deploy worker handles Provisioning of a dedicated Single tenant box, registers your Branded subdomain, issues the certificate, and starts the dialer. The browser Webphone is on by default, so agents are not blocked waiting for a separate softphone install. The first thing you do is log in, not troubleshoot.

Side by side

  Start[Decide to run VICIdial] --> Manual{Build it yourself?}
  Manual -->|Yes| M1[Rent VPS]
  M1 --> M2[Install OS + VICIdial]
  M2 --> M3[Harden + TLS + tuning]
  M3 --> Live[Dialer live]
  Manual -->|No, use VICIfast| V1[Pay for a plan]
  V1 --> V2[Worker provisions box]
  V2 --> Live

The end state is the same kind of server in both cases: your own machine running VICIdial. The difference is that VICIfast collapses the long manual chain into one scripted build that does not wait on you to fix the next problem. The diagram makes the shape of the saving obvious.

What you still own

Speed does not mean a locked-down product. You still bring your own Carrier and your own SIP trunk, your leads stay yours, and recordings live on your box rather than on a shared platform you do not control. Fast setup and full ownership are not a trade-off here.

For the full list of what we layer on top of stock VICIdial, read what VICIfast adds to VICIdial. The mechanics of the build itself are covered in how VICIfast provisions a dialer in under 40 seconds.

A common pattern: order a box, test it with a small campaign the same day, then scale once you trust it. Fast provisioning makes that experiment cheap.

Where VICIfast fits

If your time is better spent running campaigns than building servers, the fast route is the obvious one. You skip the install grind and keep full control of the dialer, the carrier, and the data. For a small team that cannot afford to lose a day to setup, that head start is the whole point. Compare plans on the pricing page.
