Adding agent seats instantly
Add agent seats to your VICIfast dialer from the dashboard as your team grows. Here is how seats relate to your plan tier and box capacity, and what happens when you hit either limit.
When your call center grows, you need more Agent seats in VICIdial without waiting for a support request or a manual server reconfig. VICIfast lets you add seats directly from the dashboard, and the change takes effect immediately on your running box.
This post explains what an agent seat means inside VICIfast, how it maps to your plan tier and your box's hardware capacity, and what options you have when you need more than your current plan covers.
What an agent seat means
In VICIdial, an agent is a user account that logs into the Agent session interface and takes calls. The number of agents who can work simultaneously is constrained both by the plan tier you are on and by the Concurrent calls capacity of the underlying server. These two limits are related but not identical.
VICIfast plans are tiered by agent count. The Starter tier covers around ten agents, Growth around twenty, and Scale up to around one hundred. The plan ceiling is a billing boundary, not a hard technical cap that crashes the server, but operating above your plan tier means you are outside the supported configuration for that box size.
How seats relate to box capacity
Each VICIfast plan ships on a VPS sized for the agent count that tier targets. More agents means more simultaneous SIP channels, more audio mixing, and more VICIdial process load. A Starter box provisioned for ten agents will start to show latency and audio quality issues if thirty agents log in at peak time, even if the VICIdial user table has thirty accounts.
When you add seats and remain within your current plan tier, VICIfast creates the VICIdial user accounts on your box immediately. No restart, no outage. Agents can log in and start taking calls as soon as their account is created. When your seat count approaches or exceeds the plan ceiling, VICIfast will prompt you to upgrade the plan, which may also trigger a server resize to match the new capacity target.

Adding seats to a running server is much lighter than that — it is a database write and a user account creation, not a full provision cycle.
What to watch for as the team grows
- Lines per agent ratio: VICIdial predictive dialers typically run 1.5 to 3 lines per agent. More agents means more simultaneous outbound channels. Make sure your plan tier and box size can handle the total channel count your Campaign strategy requires.
- Agent utilization metrics: as you add agents, watch your real-time reports. Adding seats without enough inbound volume or leads to keep agents busy lowers utilization and raises cost per contact.
- Server resize: if you are moving from Starter to Scale, the underlying VPS will be resized as part of the plan upgrade. VICIfast takes a snapshot before the resize so you can roll back if anything goes wrong.
