Leave 3-Way Stop Recording: ending the recording when the agent leaves the call
Enable Leave 3-Way Stop Recording so VICIdial halts the agent recording the moment they click LEAVE 3WAY CALL, overriding other recording options.
In a fronter and closer setup, the agent who opened the call often steps out once the closer is bridged in. The Leave 3-Way Stop Recording setting decides what happens to the recording at that exact moment: enable it, and the agent call recording stops the instant they click LEAVE 3WAY CALL.
What the setting does
When a Fronter is done qualifying the lead and hands a Three-way call over to a Closer, they press the LEAVE 3WAY CALL button to drop out of the bridge. With this option enabled, that click stops the agent Call recording. The default is DISABLED, so without it the recording keeps running under whatever your other recording settings dictate.
The important detail: this option overrides any other agent recording options. If your Campaign is set to record all calls, this still wins and stops the capture when the agent leaves. That makes it a clean way to ensure you only keep the portion of the call the fronter was actually on.

Reach for this when the recorded part of the call should end with the fronter. Good fits:
- You only need the qualifying conversation on tape for quality scoring, not the closer's pitch.
- The closer handles payment or sensitive data and you want it kept out of stored audio for Recording retention reasons.
- You want a hard, predictable cutoff that does not depend on each campaign's individual recording flags.
Why the override matters
The override behaviour is the part people underestimate. On most floors, recording is governed by a stack of settings: a campaign-wide record-all flag, per-user rules, sometimes a Recording delay before capture begins. Normally those interact in fiddly ways. This setting cuts through all of it. When the agent clicks LEAVE 3WAY CALL, the recording stops regardless of what those other flags say.
That makes it predictable, which is exactly what you want for compliance. You do not have to reason about whether some other flag will keep the tape rolling. The leave click is a hard stop. The flip side is that you cannot selectively keep recording for certain calls through normal means while this is on, so reserve it for cases where a clean cutoff at the agent's exit is genuinely what you need.
Turning it on
- Set Leave 3-Way Stop Recording to enabled in the campaign settings. It defaults to DISABLED.
- Confirm your fronters use the LEAVE 3WAY CALL button to exit, since that exact click is the trigger.
- Pull a test recording and verify it ends the moment the agent leaves, with no closer audio after.
The opposite intent
If you actually want recording to keep going after the fronter leaves so the closer's portion is captured, you want the opposite setting. That is Leave 3-Way Start Recording, which starts a recording on the same button click and lets it run on. Think of these two as a matched pair pointing in opposite directions. You can also fall back to On-demand recording when agents need to decide case by case.
