Campaign Stats Refresh: how often numbers update
Not every number in VICIdial updates the same way. The little call-count graphs build in the background, the real-time screen ticks on its own, and most other reports recalculate when you load the page. Here's what refreshes when.
One of the first things that confuses people new to VICIdial is that two screens can show slightly different numbers at the same moment. That's not a bug — different parts of the system update on different schedules. Knowing which numbers are live, which build quietly in the background, and which only refresh when you reload helps you trust what you're looking at and stops you chasing phantom discrepancies.
The live screen ticks on its own
The real-time campaign screen is the one place built to move on its own. It refreshes on a short, regular interval without you touching anything, which is why it's the right screen to leave open on a wall monitor. The counts there — agents logged in, dialable leads, leads staged in the Hopper — are meant to reflect the current minute for that one Campaign, not the whole day's history.
If you want a refresher on what each of those live counts means, our post on reading the real-time campaign stats screen breaks them down one by one, and the dialing strategies guide shows how they connect to pacing decisions.
Some stats build in the background
The small call-count graphs you see on campaign screens — the ones tracking total calls for the day and the peak concurrent calls a campaign handled — work differently. These are summary stats generated from the call logs in the background as the day goes on. They are not recalculated every single time the page loads, which is why they can lag the live screen by a little.
That background approach is deliberate. Rebuilding those graphs from scratch on every page view would be wasteful, so the system keeps a running summary and tops it up instead. The trade-off is a few seconds of lag, which almost never matters for a trend graph you're glancing at to see the shape of the day.
Most reports recalculate on load
Outside the live screen and the summary graphs, the bulk of the reporting in VICIdial recalculates the moment you load the page. When you open an Agent performance report or a calling summary for a campaign, the numbers are figured out fresh from the underlying data right then. Reload it five minutes later and it recomputes again. This is the behavior to assume unless you know a given screen is one of the special background or live cases.
So when a KPI on a report doesn't match the live screen, you're usually comparing a freshly recalculated figure against a background summary that's a beat behind. Neither is wrong; they're just measured at slightly different instants. For numbers tied to compliance — like your Drop rate — always trust the recalculated report, and if it's creeping up, our guide on lowering your VICIdial drop rate is the place to start.
If your reporting feels sluggish, that's often the hardware behind it rather than the software. A managed box sized for your call volume keeps recalculated reports snappy even with millions of rows behind them — see what each plan includes on our pricing page.
Frequently asked
- Most reports recalculate the moment you load them, while the small call-count graphs are summary stats built in the background. A few seconds of lag between a background stat and a freshly loaded report is normal.
- No. The real-time campaign screen updates itself on a short interval, so the counts move without a manual reload.
