What Call Quota Lead Ranking does
Call Quota Lead Ranking is VICIdial's way of structuring recycle dialing: hit a lead a set number of times, across set time-of-day sessions, over consecutive days. Here is what it solves and when it is worth the complexity.
Some campaigns need more than "call a lead a few times and move on." They need structure: hit each lead a set number of times, spread those attempts across different parts of the day, and do it over a couple of consecutive days before giving up. Call Quota Lead Ranking is the VICIdial feature built for exactly that. It is powerful and a little fiddly, so let us cover what it actually does before you decide whether you need it.
The problem it solves
Plain Lead recycling redials leads that did not connect, but it does not care when. Call Quota Lead Ranking adds the missing dimension: time of day. The idea is that a person you cannot reach at 9am might answer at 6pm, so a smart recycle plan tries different windows. It was built to do things like dial a non-connecting lead at least six times across two consecutive days, with at least one attempt in each of three time-of-day sessions. If that sounds like overkill for your floor, it probably is — but for hard-to-reach lists it is the difference between contact and a dead number.
How the ranking works
Behind the scenes a background process runs roughly once an hour and assigns each lead a rank based on how many times it has been called, in which sessions, and on which days. A positive rank means "still worth dialing"; the process resets those leads so they get picked up again. A rank that drops below zero means the lead has hit its quota and should sit out. You control all of it through a settings container — a named block of values attached to the campaign.
The key settings
The container has eleven core values you must set for it to be valid. The ones that matter most day to day:
- redial_statuses — which call results count as "try again" (busy, no answer, voicemail, and so on). These must also be set as campaign dial statuses.
- total_goal, daily_goal, daily_max — the target total attempts, the goal per day, and the hard daily ceiling.
- session_goal and session_day_max — how many attempts per time-of-day window, with the windows defined as session_one, session_two, and so on in 24-hour time.
- min_consecutive_days — the number of days allowed to reach the total goal, up to seven.
All session times use server time, not the lead's local time, and you must define at least one session. Once a campaign is live, do not change the sessions — it confuses the counters.
Before you turn it on
A few realities to plan around. It can stress the database, so keep each campaign under a few hundred thousand leads and park unused lists in an inactive campaign. Do not also run normal Lead Recycling on the same statuses — the quota process manages its own resets and the two will fight. And add a simple Filter of rank greater than zero so leads that have used up their quota stay out of the Hopper. It is not a feature you enable on a whim, but for stubborn lists it earns its keep.
If your reach problem is really a pacing or abandonment problem, fixing your drop rate may help more than a quota system, and the broader VICIdial dialing strategies guide puts recycle dialing in context. To run a managed dialer where features like this are already wired up, check our plans.
Frequently asked
- No. It is an advanced, experimental recycle-dialing system configured through a settings container with eleven required values. Most teams do not need it; a simple lead recycling setup covers the common cases.
- It is recommended you do not run both on the same statuses, or use plain campaign Lead Recycling at all, when Call Quota Lead Ranking is active. The quota process manages its own resets.
