Auto Active List New: auto-activating fresh lists

Auto Active List New flips an inactive list to active automatically when your campaign runs low on fresh leads, so agents don't go idle waiting for someone to turn on the next list. Here is how it works and its catches.

Auto Active List New: auto-activating fresh lists

You loaded ten lists into a campaign but only turned on the first one, planning to flip the rest live as you burn through fresh leads. That works fine until everyone's at lunch and the active list runs dry, and suddenly your agents are idle because nobody clicked the next list active. Auto Active List New is the setting that does that clicking for you.

What it does

You give it a number. When the campaign has fewer fresh NEW-status leads left to dial than that number, the system finds an inactive list that still holds dialable NEW leads and switches it to active for you. The result is a steady supply of fresh Lead records flowing into the Hopper without anyone watching the count.

Set the number a little above how many fresh leads your room chews through in the time it takes you to notice and react. That gives the next list time to come online before agents run out of work.

Which list gets turned on

Order is not random. Each list has a List Auto Active List Rank, and that rank decides which inactive list comes online next. Set the ranks so your priority leads activate before your bargain-bin ones. If you don't set ranks deliberately, you may be surprised which list goes live.

The two things it needs to run

This feature is quiet about its requirements, so write these down. First, there must have been calling on the campaign within the last hour. If the campaign has been silent, the feature simply does not fire, so it will not wake up a sleeping campaign for you. Second, it only works when Call Quota Lead Ranking is also enabled on the campaign. No ranking, no auto-activation.

If you set Auto Active List New and lists still aren't activating, those two preconditions are almost always the reason. Check that calling is current and that ranking is on before you assume the feature is broken.

The within-the-last-hour rule trips people up most often. It means the feature is built to keep a running campaign topped up, not to kick-start one from cold. If you load fresh lists at the start of the day and turn on the campaign expecting them to activate themselves, the first list still has to go active by hand to get calling going. After that, Auto Active List New takes over and handles the handoffs between lists for the rest of the shift.

It is also worth deciding what "fresh" means for your room before you set the number. The feature only counts dialable NEW-status leads, so a list full of already-worked leads will not satisfy it even if it has plenty of records. If you want a list to count as a backup supply, make sure it holds genuine NEW leads, not recycled ones.

How it fits with the rest of your setup

Auto Active List New keeps fresh leads in supply; it does not change how those leads are dialed. The dial status set and your List order still decide what the dialer reaches for, and the whole flow is laid out in the VICIdial dialing strategies guide. If your idle-agent problem is really about the hopper draining rather than lists being off, also read how to fix an empty hopper.

Keeping leads flowing so agents stay busy is exactly the kind of housekeeping a managed dialer should handle for you. See our pricing for a box that's set up to keep dialing.

Frequently asked

What turns the next list on first?
The List Auto Active List Rank decides ordering. The list with the next rank becomes active when your fresh-lead count drops below your threshold.
Why is nothing activating?
Two reasons usually: there has been no calling on the campaign in the last hour, or Call Quota Lead Ranking is not enabled. Both are required for the feature to run.
