How to Override VICIdial Statuses Per List or In-Group
Attach a Status Group to a list or in-group so those calls present a different disposition set than the rest of the campaign.
You have a campaign whose default dispositions work fine for most leads, but one list needs its own outcome codes. Cloning the campaign is overkill. A Status Group is the lighter tool: build one set of statuses, attach it to a list or an Ingroup, and only those calls present that set to the Agent. Here is how to wire it up end to end.
Step 1: Build the Status Group
Open the Status Groups section under Admin and add a group. Give it a Status Group ID between 2 and 20 characters. It must not match a current campaign ID, and it cannot contain spaces or other special characters, so something like RETENTION_G is safe while reusing a campaign name is not. Add a clear description so the group is obvious in a list of dozens later.
Step 2: Add the statuses you want
Inside the group, define each Status (lead status) you want agents to be able to pick. A status code is 1 to 6 characters and a description is 2 to 30 characters. Set the Selectable flag to Y for any status that should appear as a Disposition in the agent screen; leave it off for codes the system sets automatically. Set human_answered to Y on the statuses that should count as answered calls, because that flag feeds the drop percentage and Abandonment rate math.
Use the seven category flags deliberately: mark genuine sales as sale, mark do-not-call outcomes as dnc, and tag the rest as customer contact, not interested, unworkable, scheduled callback, or completed as appropriate. Those flags drive your reports, not just the agent's menu.
Step 3: Attach the group to a list or in-group
This is the step that does the override. Edit the list (or the in-group, if you are scoping inbound calls) and set its Status Group field to the group you just built. From that point, calls placed within that list or handled by that in-group use the group's statuses instead of the campaign statuses. Everything else in the campaign is untouched.

Log an agent in, take or place a call that belongs to the overridden list or in-group, and check the disposition panel at hangup. You should see the group's statuses, not the campaign's. Run a call against a different, non-overridden list and confirm it falls back to the campaign statuses. If both look right, the attachment is correct.
If the group statuses do not appear, the usual culprit is the wrong list, a Selectable flag left off, or the Status Group field saved on the campaign instead of the list. Re-check the list record first.
A couple of habits that save time
- Name group IDs by purpose, not by campaign, so you can reuse one group across several lists.
- Keep the selectable status list short. Ten clean outcomes beat thirty overlapping ones.
- Decide the human_answered flag per status before launch; changing it later shifts your historical abandon-rate numbers.
