Reset Lead-Called-Status: recalling a whole list
Resetting a list flips every lead back to a callable state so the dialer can work the same numbers again after a full pass.
Once your dialer has worked through every record in a list, those numbers go quiet. That is by design. Each Lead carries a "called since last reset" flag, and after a full pass that flag is set so the same person is not dialed forever. To call the list again, you reset it. The Reset Lead-Called-Status checkbox on the list modification screen is how you do that.
If you are new to how lists feed a Campaign, start with the lists and leads guide before you touch the reset control.
What the reset actually does
Checking the box flips every lead in that list back to N, which means "not called since last reset." It does not erase dispositions or change anyone's status to NEW. A lead that was marked No Answer keeps that status, but it becomes eligible to be dialed again as long as its status is one your campaign is set to call. In other words, the reset clears the gate, not the history.
Because of that, the campaign's dial-status selections still decide who actually rings. If a lead's Disposition is one you no longer dial, resetting the list will not bring it back into rotation. The reset only removes the "already called this pass" block.
The status flow
stateDiagram-v2
[*] --> Callable
Callable --> Dialed: dialer rings lead
Dialed --> CalledThisPass: flag set to Y
CalledThisPass --> Callable: Reset Lead-Called-Status
CalledThisPass --> [*]: list exhaustedEvery record cycles between callable and called-this-pass. The reset is the single action that moves the whole list back to callable in one click, which is why a fresh list feeds the Hopper again immediately.
When to reset by hand
- Your list has run dry and the campaign report shows zero dialable records.
- You want one more clean pass over leads that did not connect, like No Answer or Busy.
- You loaded fresh contacts into an old list and want the whole thing dialed together.
Resetting is not the same as building a list from scratch, and it is not the same as loading new records. You are not adding or removing anyone, you are only changing whether the existing records are allowed to be dialed in the current pass. The list keeps its ID, its name, its campaign assignment, and every disposition it already has. Think of it as a fresh starting line for the same set of runners. If you are still learning what a list is and how its records are organized, the explainer at what is a VICIdial list is the right next read.
There are two ways to fire a reset. The first is by hand, ticking the Reset Lead-Called-Status box and saving the list. The second is to let the system do it on a schedule, which is the better choice for any list you work every day. A scheduled reset never forgets, never fires twice by mistake, and keeps your dialable count topped up at the same point each day. Most busy teams set a schedule and only reach for the checkbox when something unusual comes up, like a re-load of fresh records into an older list.
One last thing to watch: if a campaign uses recycling on certain statuses, those leads may already be coming back on their own, so a full reset on top of that can over-dial the same people. Resetting is the blunt tool; recycling is the scalpel. Use the reset when you genuinely want the entire list worked again, and lean on recycling when you only care about a single result like a busy signal.

Frequently asked
- No. It only flips the called-since-last-reset flag back to N. Dispositions stay exactly as agents left them.
- The reset makes leads callable, but the campaign's selected dial statuses still decide which ones ring. If a status is not in your dial list, it stays idle.
- There is no undo. Once reset, those leads are eligible again, so reset deliberately and ideally early in the calling day.
