What VICIdial costs for a 100-agent team

A 100-agent VICIdial floor runs on a dedicated, well-specced server, a large carrier bill you pay at cost, and a flat managed fee that has not moved since you had ten seats. At this size the per-agent infrastructure cost is at its lowest, and the gap against per-seat SaaS is widest.

It is still the same three lines — server, minutes, labor — just at full scale. The model behind them is in what VICIdial really costs. Here is the hundred-seat version.

The server at 100 agents

A hundred agents wants a dedicated machine: 16 or more cores, 32 GB of RAM or more, and fast SSD for recordings, which pile up quickly at this volume. The driver is again Concurrent calls. At a Dial level of 2 or 3, a hundred agents can hold two-to-three hundred Channels open at once. Each is a live audio path the Asterisk telephony engine — the open-source PBX VICIdial is built on — has to mix in real time.

Budget the box in the few-hundred-dollars-a-month range for a dedicated VPS or bare-metal server, Single tenant so the full machine is yours. That is still one line item. A hundred agents do not need a hundred servers — they need one strong one.

Carrier minutes are the big number

At a hundred seats, carrier minutes are easily your largest monthly line, and that is fine — it is the line you control most directly. You pay your Carrier per minute over your own SIP trunk, at a fraction of a cent to a few cents, with zero markup from us. A hundred agents at full outbound dialing can run into hundreds of thousands of talk minutes a month.

This is where carrier choice earns or loses real money. A tenth of a cent across a million minutes is a thousand dollars. Picking the right provider matters more than any other decision here — choosing a SIP carrier walks through it. With per-seat SaaS this volume is marked up and you cannot shop it.

Per-agent cost at its floor

Spread a few-hundred-dollar server across a hundred agents and infrastructure is a few dollars per agent per month. The flat managed fee, divided by a hundred, is a rounding error per seat. The only line that scales with headcount is minutes, and those you buy at cost. The fixed costs have amortized about as far as they can.

Set that against per-seat licensing. A hundred agents at an order-of-$150-per-seat rate is roughly $15,000 a month before a single minute — and the minutes carry a markup. The structural reason is in VICIdial cost per agent: VICIdial has no per-agent license, so your cost curve flattens exactly where theirs keeps climbing.

Labor and reliability at scale

A hundred-agent floor cannot tolerate a quiet outage. The Keepalive processes that hold the dialer running, the firewall, OS patches, and nightly backups are not optional housekeeping at this size — they are revenue protection. Self-hosting means a dedicated admin or team carrying that. Managed hosting folds it into the flat fee, and we provision a secured, Branded subdomain box in under 40 seconds if you ever need to rebuild.

At 100 agents, an hour of downtime is a hundred agents idle on payroll. The reliability you buy with managed hosting is cheaper than one bad outage.

For the current flat per-server fee at this scale and what a 100-agent tier includes, our pricing page is the source of truth. One strong server, your own minutes at cost, a flat fee — and the lowest per-agent cost you will ever see on this software.
