Agent dispositions
NINot interested
Someone answered and said no before the pitch got going — the standard early-decline code.
NI is the everyday brush-off code: the customer answered, listened for a moment, and said they are not interested. It is the most-used status on most floors after the no-answer codes.
When VICIdial sets it
Usually an agent choice. Survey campaigns can also write it automatically — the survey settings include an opt-out digit and the status to apply when the customer presses it, and NI is the shipped default for that.
What to do
- Keep the not-interested flag on and the DNC flag off. NI is a soft no; if the customer demands no further contact, that is a different code.
- Do not let NI become a dumping ground. If it dwarfs every other contact code, agents are using it to end calls quickly.
- Set a recycle rule you can defend. Calling an NI lead back the same week is how complaints start.
Related codes
Compare with DEC, a no after the full pitch, and DNC, which is a request never to be called again and carries compliance weight NI does not.
