Agent dispositions
AAnswering machine (agent-marked)
An agent heard an answering machine on a live call and dispositioned it by hand.
A is the answering-machine code an agent picks. The call reached a person to handle, they listened, heard a recorded greeting instead of a human, and closed the call out as A.
When VICIdial sets it
Never automatically — A is always an agent choice. That is the whole distinction between this code and the machine codes the dialer writes on its own.
What to do
- Compare your A count against the automatic ones. Lots of A means machines are getting past detection and burning agent time.
- Decide how many attempts an A lead earns before you stop. Machines answer reliably, so these leads will keep coming back forever if you let them.
- Keep the answering-machine flag ticked on this status so machine stats include it, and keep it out of your contact-rate numerator.
Related codes
This is the manual sibling of AA, which the dialer’s answering-machine detection sets before any agent hears the call. AM and AL mean the machine was sent a recorded message instead of an agent.
