Reading How Many Leads Are Loaded and Dialable in a VICIdial List

One of the first questions every new VICIdial operator asks is simple: how many calls can I actually make right now? The answer is not the number of leads you uploaded. A list of 50,000 records might have only 8,000 that the dialer will hand to an agent today. The gap between those two numbers is where most "my agents are sitting idle" problems live.

The list modification page in the VICIdial admin shows you both figures, plus a couple of others that matter more than the raw upload count. Let's walk through what each one means so you can tell at a glance whether a list still has work in it.

Loaded is not dialable

"Loaded" is just the total number of records sitting in the list. "Dialable" is the subset the system will still call. A record counts as dialable when its status is not flagged as UNWORKABLE or COMPLETED. So as your agents and the dialer chew through the list and mark numbers as bad, do-not-call, or sold, the dialable count drops even though the loaded count never moves.

This matters because each Lead carries a Called status that decides its fate. If a number got marked DNC, it is no longer dialable on this list at all. If it got a no-answer status that your campaign is configured to call again, it stays dialable. The dialable count is the honest view of how much real work remains.

Where to find the numbers

Open Lists, click the list you care about, and scroll to the statistics block on the modify page. You get several tables: a breakdown by status (and whether each status has been called since the last reset), a breakdown by time zone, lead owners, ranks, and finally a grid of status against how many times each lead has been called. Up top you also get Dialable and Penetration as headline figures.

Penetration tells you how deep you have gone

Penetration is the percentage of leads that have either been dialed up to the campaign's Call Count Target, or whose disposition is flagged DNC, NOT INTERESTED, UNWORKABLE, or COMPLETED. In plain terms, it is the share of the list you have fully worked. Low penetration with a low dialable count usually means a lot of records hit a bad-number or DNC status early.

Notice the middle branch: a lead can be perfectly workable and still not be dialable today simply because it has already been called since the last reset. That is the single most common reason a list looks "empty" when it is full of good numbers.

Putting it to use

Read these numbers daily. A healthy outbound list keeps a comfortable dialable count ahead of your Hopper demand so the dialer never runs dry.
