What the Anyone Callbacks DNC Filter setting does

What the Anyone Callbacks DNC Filter setting does

A callback that was perfectly fine to set last week might be a problem to dial this week if that number landed on a do-not-call list in the meantime. The Anyone Callbacks DNC Filter setting handles exactly that gap. When enabled, it checks the phone numbers on ANYONE scheduled callbacks against the DNC (do not call) options that are turned on for the Campaign, and it does this check right before those callbacks are loaded into the Hopper to be dialed.

Where this fits in the callback flow

An ANYONE callback is a Scheduled callback that returns to the general pool when its trigger time arrives, so any available Agent can take it rather than the one who set it. Before VICIdial dials those callbacks, it stages them into the hopper, the short list of leads queued up for the dialer. The DNC filter sits at that staging step: any ANYONE callback whose number matches an active DNC entry gets caught and is not placed into the hopper for dialing.

flowchart TD
  A[ANYONE callback trigger time arrives] --> B{DNC Filter enabled?}
  B -->|No| C[Load into hopper to dial]
  B -->|Yes| D[Check number vs campaign DNC options]
  D --> E{Number on a DNC list?}
  E -->|No| C
  E -->|Yes| F[Skip - not loaded into hopper]

Important detail: the filter respects whatever DNC options are enabled on the campaign. If you have a Campaign DNC list active, it checks against that. If a system-wide DNC is in play, it checks that too. The filter is only as broad as the DNC options you have switched on for that campaign.

What it does not cover

This is the part people miss. The Anyone Callbacks DNC Filter does nothing for USERONLY callbacks, the ones an agent reserves for themselves with the My Callback checkbox. Those are dialed through the agent screen, not staged into the general hopper, so they never pass through this filter. If you want USERONLY callbacks screened against a DNC list, you handle that with the Manual Dial Filter settings instead, since those callbacks are dialed manually by the agent.

Default for this setting is DISABLED. That means out of the box, ANYONE callbacks are not re-checked against DNC when they come due. For most outbound shops with any compliance exposure, enabling it is the safer default, because it catches numbers that became do-not-call between when the callback was set and when it fires. That gap can be days or weeks wide on a long-dated callback, which is exactly the window where a number is most likely to have been added to a list.

Keep in mind this is a screening step, not a scrubbing job that runs over your whole list. It only acts on ANYONE callbacks at the moment they are about to be staged for dialing. Leads that are not callbacks, and callbacks that have not yet triggered, are not touched by this option. If a number gets caught by the filter, the callback simply does not get dialed through the general pool; it is held back rather than deleted, so your records stay intact.

Turning it on

The setting is on the campaign detail screen, near the other callback controls. Flip it from DISABLED to enabled, and confirm the DNC options you actually want enforced are also turned on for that campaign, because the filter only checks what is enabled. To understand how ANYONE callbacks get back into the dialing pool in the first place, read how anyone callbacks go back to the hopper. The scheduled callbacks overview covers the rest of the callback options on this page.

Compliance without the manual checks

Re-screening callbacks against DNC at dial time is the kind of small setting that saves you from a bad call months later. If you would rather run VICIdial on a box where these controls are ready to configure from the start, our managed dialers provision in under 40 seconds. See our pricing for the details.
