Dropped calls

CLOSOPClosing time option

The inbound call arrived at closing time and was handled by the in-group’s closing-time option.

CLOSOP covers the awkward edge of the day: a call that lands as the queue is closing. Rather than treat it as a normal queued call or as a plain after-hours call, the in-group’s closing-time option handles it.

When VICIdial sets it

Automatically, when that option is configured and a call arrives in the closing window.

What to do

  • Make the closing message honest. "We have just closed, we open at nine" is better than a queue nobody will answer.
  • Look at CLOSOP volume before you change opening hours — the last ten minutes of the day are often busier than people assume.
  • Check it against your call time schedule so the two do not contradict each other.
  • Keep the closing window short and specific. A wide window turns ordinary afternoon calls into closing-time calls.
  • Give people a way to leave their details. Somebody calling at closing time still wants to talk to you tomorrow.
