Dropped calls
TIMEOTInbound drop timeout
The inbound call waited out the full drop timer and was handed to the in-group’s drop action.
TIMEOT is the clock running out on an inbound call. The caller waited the in-group’s drop-call-seconds, no agent took them, and the in-group’s drop action decided what happened next.
When VICIdial sets it
Automatically, at the timeout. What the customer experiences depends entirely on the drop action: a hangup, a message, a voicemail box, a call menu, or a different in-group.
What to do
- Set the timer to a number you would tolerate as a caller, then make the drop action useful.
- Track TIMEOT alongside your longest queue waits. It marks the exact point your queue stopped working.
- A voicemail or callback drop action turns these into leads you can still call back — a hangup turns them into nothing.
- Compare the timer against your real answer times. If most calls are answered in twenty seconds, a six-minute timer is not protecting anybody.
