Carrier results

ADCTCongested number (carrier)

The carrier returned a congestion or rejection cause — the call could not be completed at that moment.

ADCT covers a small set of carrier causes that all mean the same thing in practice: the call could not be put through this time. Circuits busy, network trouble, or the call rejected somewhere along the route.

When VICIdial sets it

Automatically, when the carrier responds with one of those congestion-type causes. It says nothing about the customer or the number.

What to do

  • Recycle ADCT leads. The number may be perfectly good — the route was not.
  • Investigate the route if the count climbs. Congestion clustered on one carrier at one time of day is a capacity problem you can raise with them.
  • Never treat ADCT as a dead number. That is the most common misreading of this code, and it throws away working leads.
  • Retry at a different time of day rather than straight away. Congestion clusters around the busy hours on whichever route you are using.

Contrast with ADC, a genuinely disconnected number, and NA, where the failure had no specific cause at all.
