Answering machine
ADAIRDead air (auto)
The call was answered but detection heard no audio at all — neither a person nor a machine.
ADAIR is the dead-air result: the call was answered, answering-machine detection listened, and there was simply no audio to analyse.
When VICIdial sets it
Automatically, on campaigns with detection enabled, when the detector finishes with no audio data to work from. It is a technical result, not a customer decision.
What to do
- A trickle is normal — one-way audio happens. A steady stream is a carrier or codec problem, and the customers on the other end heard nothing from you either.
- Check whether ADAIR clusters on one carrier or one route. That is usually the whole story.
- Recycle these leads. Nobody was reached, so the number has not been tested yet.
- Look at codecs and trunk settings when the count jumps. Dead air is almost always a transport problem rather than a lead problem.
