When your dialer uses your own domain, you add a few DNS records at the company that runs your domain’s DNS. VICIfast shows you the exact records on screen, with a copy button. This page shows where they go and how to check them.
Which records
- A CNAME named _acme-challenge plus your address, for example _acme-challenge.dialer.yourcompany.com. It lets us issue and renew your certificate. You add it when you order or rename.
- An A record for your address, pointing at your server’s IP address. The server page shows it after checkout.
- For the branded firewall page (optional): a CNAME for firewall.yourcompany.com and two or three TXT records, shown on the Firewall tab.
Step 1: Find who runs your DNS
It’s usually where you bought the domain. If you moved your DNS to Cloudflare or to your web host, it’s there instead. To check, search your domain on ICANN Lookup and look at Name Servers:
- …ns.cloudflare.com: Cloudflare
- …domaincontrol.com: GoDaddy
- …registrar-servers.com: Namecheap
- …awsdns…: Amazon Route 53
- …digitalocean.com: DigitalOcean
- …azure-dns…: Microsoft Azure DNS
Step 2: Add each record
- Open the DNS settings for your domain. Providers call it DNS, DNS records, Advanced DNS or Zone Editor.
- Choose Add record and pick the Type shown on screen: CNAME, A or TXT.
- In Name (or Host), enter only the part before your domain. For dialer.yourcompany.com that is dialer; for _acme-challenge.dialer.yourcompany.com it is _acme-challenge.dialer. Cloudflare, Route 53 and Azure also accept the full name.
- In Value (also called Target, Points to or Answer), paste the value from the screen.
- Leave TTL on Auto, or set 300 seconds, and save.
Step 3: Check it
Most providers publish a change within a few minutes. Check it with Google’s DNS checker: enter the name, pick the type, and the answer should match the value on screen. Then click Verify CNAME when ordering. On a running server, the server page picks it up by itself.

Frequently asked
- You typed the full name in a field that adds your domain by itself. Edit the record and keep only the part before your domain.
- Delete the old A, AAAA, CNAME or _acme-challenge TXT record with that name first. A CNAME can’t share its name with any other record.
- Add a CAA record 0 issue "letsencrypt.org" on your domain. We issue your certificate with Let’s Encrypt.
- Look for Zone Editor (cPanel) or Advanced DNS. If your host doesn’t let you add records, ask its support to add them for you, or move your DNS to Cloudflare, which has a free plan.
- Usually a few minutes. If you just changed your domain’s name servers, allow up to 24 hours.
