What VICIdial costs for a 50-agent team
Cost breakdown for VICIdial at 50 agents: a bigger single server, higher carrier minutes, and a flat managed fee that the per-agent figure keeps shrinking against.
At 50 agents, VICIdial needs a more capable single server, your carrier bill scales with the dialing, and your fixed costs spread across far more seats. The per-agent number drops sharply against a 10-seat team because the server is still one line item, just a bigger one.
The structure does not change — server, minutes, labor — only the sizing does, and we lay out that whole structure in what VICIdial really costs. Here is how it sizes up for fifty.
Sizing the server for 50
Fifty agents is where the box gets serious. You want 8 or more cores and 16 GB of RAM or better, plus enough disk for recordings. The load comes from Concurrent calls — the number of live calls active at once — which is higher than your agent count once you turn on Predictive dialing, where the system dials ahead of available agents. Each live call is a Channel, one audio path through the server, and fifty agents at a Dial level of 2 or 3 can mean a hundred-plus channels open.
Call that an 8-to-16-core VPS in the $150 to $300 a month range, depending on provider and disk. It is still one server, Single tenant so nobody else's load competes with yours. The jump from a 10-agent box is real but sub-linear — you are not paying five times more for five times the agents.
Carrier minutes at scale
Minutes are the line that grows with agent count. Fifty agents dialing outbound generate roughly five times the talk minutes of ten, so your Carrier bill scales close to linearly. This is exactly why you bring your own SIP trunk — the connection that carries your voice traffic to the carrier — and pay the carrier directly at a fraction of a cent to a few cents a minute. We never insert a markup between you and those minutes.
At fifty seats, shaving even half a cent off your per-minute rate is worth chasing. Negotiating directly with your carrier, or using Least-cost routing to send each call over the cheapest qualifying Trunk, is money you keep. With per-seat dialer SaaS that markup is baked in and invisible — see the hidden cost of self-hosted VICIdial for the trade-offs the other direction.

This is the headline. A $250 server split across fifty agents is $5 of infrastructure per agent per month — half the per-agent server cost of a 10-seat team on a cheaper box. The fixed costs amortize. Your managed fee is flat per server, not per seat, so it does not climb with headcount either. Only minutes scale, and those you pay at cost.
Contrast a per-seat platform. At an order-of-$150-per-agent rate, fifty seats is roughly $7,500 a month in licensing alone, before minutes — and minutes are marked up on top. VICIdial at fifty seats keeps the same flat server fee it had at ten. The wider comparison lives in how much does VICIdial cost.
Labor at 50 seats
Fifty agents is the size where self-hosted labor stops being a side task. Tuning the Dial level to keep your Drop rate — the share of connected calls dropped before an agent picks up — inside legal limits is ongoing work, not a one-time setup. So is monitoring Occupancy, the share of paid agent time actually on calls. Managed hosting carries the server layer so your floor lead spends time on the dialer, not on the OS.
