How to delete a Remote Agent
Deleting a VICIdial Remote Agent is a two-step process on purpose. This guide walks you through both clicks so you do not remove the wrong record.
At some point you will need to remove a Remote agent record — maybe the external number changed, the use-case went away, or you created a test entry you no longer need. VICIdial does not let you delete a remote agent in a single click. Instead it uses a two-step confirmation process, which is exactly what you want when working in the same admin panel that controls live Campaign traffic.
Before you delete
Set the remote agent status to INACTIVE first. This stops the system from routing new calls to it. Changing status to INACTIVE can take up to one minute to fully take effect, so wait a moment before you go ahead with deletion. Once the agent is quiet, you are safe to remove it.

B --> C[Click 'DELETE THIS REMOTE AGENT' link]
C --> D[Page reloads]
D --> E[Confirmation link appears at the TOP of the page]
E --> F[Click second 'DELETE THIS REMOTE AGENT' link]
F --> G[Record permanently removed]- Go to Remote Agents in the admin left-side menu.
- Click through to the modification page of the agent you want to remove.
- Scroll to the very bottom of the page. Click the "DELETE THIS REMOTE AGENT" link.
- The page will reload. A confirmation link appears at the top of the screen — NOT at the bottom where you just clicked.
- Click the second "DELETE THIS REMOTE AGENT" link at the top to finish the deletion.
After the second click the record is gone. The system will no longer attempt to route calls to that Extension or its associated user ID slots.
Why two steps?
Multi-line remote agents create several active user ID slots in the system — for example, a three-line agent starting at user ID 200 occupies slots 200, 201, and 202. Deleting the record wipes all of them. A misclick on an active record could silently drop live calls with no undo. The two-step flow is a small speed bump that prevents that.
