Lead lifecycle
NEWNew lead
The starting status for every lead you load — VICIdial has not dialed it yet.
NEW is where every lead starts. When a list is loaded, each row goes in with the status NEW, meaning nobody has called it and nothing has happened to it yet. On a healthy outbound campaign this is the status the dialer spends most of its time hunting for.
When VICIdial sets it
Automatically, at load time — the lead loader stamps NEW on every row it inserts. It stays NEW until a call actually happens, at which point the dialer or the agent replaces it with an outcome. No agent can set a lead back to NEW; to work a finished lead again you either reset the list or add its current status to the campaign dial statuses.
What to do
- If a campaign is not dialing, check that NEW is one of its dial statuses. Without it the dialer will not pull fresh leads at all.
- Watch the NEW count per list. When it hits zero the campaign is out of fresh work, however many leads the list holds in total.
- A lead sitting on NEW while the campaign runs usually means an inactive list, an empty hopper, or a local time outside your call-time window.

The two statuses that replace NEW the second dialing starts are QUEUE and INCALL. Anything else you see on a lead is a finished outcome.
