Factory reset

A factory reset wipes your VICIdial server back to a clean install, removing all leads, campaigns, and recordings so you can start fresh.

A factory reset rebuilds your VICIdial server back to a clean, freshly installed state. It is the "start over" button. All of your leads, campaigns, lists, dispositions, recordings, and custom settings are removed, and the box comes back looking the way it did right after Provisioning.

This is a destructive action, so VICIfast treats it carefully. A backup is taken to object storage before the wipe, and the platform asks you to confirm with a typed acknowledgement rather than a single click. The reset runs through the same automation as provisioning, so the rebuilt server is ready quickly and arrives secured and on HTTPS.

When to use it

Reach for a factory reset when the dialer's configuration has become a tangle you no longer trust, when you are repurposing a server for a brand-new project, or when you want to clear test data before going live. It is heavier than tidying up a single Campaign, so it is best kept for situations where a clean slate is genuinely faster than untangling the old one.

Do not confuse a factory reset with a Server snapshot. A snapshot is a saved point you can roll back to; a factory reset throws everything away and rebuilds. If you only want to undo a recent change, restore a snapshot instead. Factory reset is for when you truly want nothing of the old setup left, and the work runs the same on standard Managed hosting or on your own Single tenant VPS.
