Answering machine

AMDXFRAnswering machine transferred

Detection found a machine and the call was transferred to a call menu or an in-group rather than dropped.

AMDXFR records a machine that was routed onward: instead of hanging up or playing a flat message, the call was passed to a call menu or an in-group.

When VICIdial sets it

Automatically, when the campaign’s answering-machine handling is configured to transfer rather than hang up or play a message.

What to do

  • Check what the destination actually does with a machine on the line. A call menu waiting for keypresses from a voicemail box is just paying for silence.
  • Keep an eye on the volume. Every transferred machine occupies a channel for as long as the destination lets it.
  • If you only wanted a message left, the message path is cheaper and easier to audit.
  • Verify the destination is open at the hours you dial. A machine transferred into an in-group after hours is a call going nowhere at your expense.

AM and AL are the play-a-message path; IVRXFR is a dropped outbound call sent to a call menu.
