Internal DNC
A system-wide Do Not Call list inside VICIdial that blocks a number across every campaign on the dialer, not just one.
Internal DNC is VICIdial's own system-wide Do Not Call list. When a number lands on it, the dialer will not call that number from any Campaign on the box. This is the broadest block you can apply with a single action, which makes it the safe default for honoring a plain opt-out request where someone says they never want to hear from you again.
The internal DNC differs from a Campaign DNC, which only blocks a number within a single campaign. If someone tells you to stop calling about anything, the internal list is the right home. If they only want off one specific offer but are happy to hear about others, the campaign-level list is the better fit. Picking the correct scope is the whole skill here.
How numbers get added
- An agent picks a DNC Disposition during a call, and VICIdial writes the number automatically
- You bulk-import a file of numbers straight into the internal DNC
- You scrub against the National DNC Registry and push every match in
Once a number is on the internal DNC, VICIdial flags the Called status of any matching Lead so it is skipped on the next pull from the hopper. The internal and campaign lists are the two halves of the larger DNC (do not call) system, and both share the purpose of a general DNC list: never ring someone who asked you to stop. Keep the internal list as your master block, audit it now and then for stale entries, and reach for narrower scopes only when the request truly calls for it.
Because the internal DNC spans every Campaign, a single mistaken entry can quietly stop you from calling a good number across the whole dialer, so handle bulk imports with care and keep a backup of the file you loaded. When a number you expected to dial never rings and no Lead filter explains it, the internal DNC is the first place to look. A quick search of the list usually settles whether the block is intentional or an accident that needs undoing.
