Is there a best VICIdial provider?
No single VICIdial provider is best for every call center, because every host runs the same open-source dialer and what differs is the price model, how much control you get, how fast you get a server and who answers when it breaks.
The best VICIdial hosting for a 10-agent inbound team is rarely the best for a 200-agent predictive floor. A small team cares about the monthly bill. A large one cares about clusters, carrier channels and who is on call. So instead of a ranking, this page gives you the criteria to score hosts yourself. We host VICIdial too, so read it with that in mind - which is why it also says where someone else is the better choice.
What criteria matter when choosing a VICIdial host?
Nine criteria decide most choices between VICIdial hosting providers: published price, pricing model, provisioning time, root access, who patches and backs up, carrier freedom, support access, migration help and cluster ability.
Score every host 0 (no), 1 (partly) or 2 (yes) on each row. A host that will not answer a row gets a 0.
| Criterion | A 2 looks like | How VICIfast does |
|---|---|---|
| Published price | The full plan grid on a public page, no call needed | Whole grid on pricing: shared cores from $49/mo, dedicated cores from $249/mo |
| Pricing model | Per server, unless the vendor also runs your floor | Per server, not per agent |
| Provisioning time | A fully automated build you can time yourself | Under 40 seconds; 7-day free trial (card required) |
| Root access | Root on the box without opening a ticket | Full root access through a recorded root console in the browser |
| Patching and backups | The host patches; daily, off-box backups you can restore | Patching, firewall, SSL and 24/7 monitoring handled; daily snapshots with one-click restore, as an add-on |
| Carrier freedom | Any SIP carrier, no markup, more than one at once | Bring your own SIP carrier on every plan with no markup on calls, or use VICIfast Voice |
| Support access | A person, with a clear line between server and dialer config | A person reads every message; phone answered by a person, no menu; chat from the dashboard |
| Migration help | Old box keeps dialing, validation pass before cutover | Automated ViciBox and self-hosted migration; you choose when to flip DNS |
| Cluster ability | A published layout and delivery time past one server | Enterprise clusters delivered in under 24 hours, 99.99% uptime SLA |
Our vendor-neutral checklist for choosing a VICIdial host explains each question in more depth, with the answers that should worry you.
How does VICIfast score as a VICIdial provider?
VICIfast is strongest on published pricing, provisioning speed, root access and carrier freedom, and it is not the cheapest option for every floor size.
The dialer is plain VICIdial: the same /vicidial/admin.php and the same agent screen you already know, on a branded HTTPS address. More than 200 servers have been provisioned on VICIfast, across 6 live regions, and fleet uptime over the last 30 days was 99.94%. Our founder brings 18 years of VICIdial - running call centres, deploying it for clients and fixing it at the weekend.
Two things to know before you sign up. First, support is a person, not a bot, but standard plans do not include round-the-clock human support; the servers are monitored 24/7, and sales questions get an answer by the next business day. Second, the plan agent counts are suggestions for a typical mix. A predictive floor dialing three lines per agent carries about three live calls per agent, so it needs more cores than the plan name suggests. The agent capacity calculator shows the plan your floor actually needs.
When is another host or self-hosting the better choice?
Another provider, or your own server, is the better choice when the cheapest price at a tiny floor, the most hardware per dollar, on-site equipment or an existing relationship matters more than speed and control.
- Small floors on a tight budget. In the 11 to 15 agent band, at least one host publishes a lower monthly price than ours.
- Raw hardware per dollar. A host selling bare metal gives you a much bigger machine for the money, if you are not in a hurry to get it.
- Someone to run the floor. Per-agent vendors bundle dialer tuning, QA and coaching. If that is what you want to buy, their pricing is the right shape for it.
- Unusual deployments. The VICIdial project's own team knows the codebase better than anyone, though they publish no hosting price.
- On-site needs. If compliance rules require physical custody of the hardware, or you have T1/E1 cards or an on-site recording appliance, keep the box yourself.
- A provider you already trust. If your current host answers fast and your dialer is stable, a migration buys you little.
How do VICIdial providers' prices compare?
Every host's published price, with the source and the date we checked it, is in our VICIdial hosting providers compared guide - we keep the numbers there so they stay dated and sourced.
Two patterns stand out. Two of the best-known names publish no pricing at all, and above about 30 agents most of the market stops publishing. And for most outbound teams, carrier minutes and phone numbers cost more than the hosting itself, so whether a host lets you bring your own carrier is worth more than a small difference in monthly price.
Where to start
Shortlist two or three hosts and run the same tests on each: sign up and time the server build, log in as root, invite a coworker, and ask in writing what happens to your data when you cancel. To run them on us, start a free trial. If you would rather talk it through, send your agent count and how you dial on the contact page - a person reads every message, even if the honest answer is a different host.
