How do you back up a VICIdial server?

A VICIdial backup needs two things: the MariaDB database, which holds campaigns, lists, leads, users and call logs, and the folder of call recordings. The Platform Backup add-on takes both every day at 04:00 UTC: a compressed dump of the database, taken while the dialer keeps running, and an archive of the recordings.

Add it to a server at any time under Manage add-ons; the rest of the month is prorated. If a day’s backup is missing, the server page warns you after 36 hours, and again at 48.

How do you restore a VICIdial backup?

Chat with support and say which day to roll back to, and the team restores it for you. Every run also emails the account owner download links to the database dump and the recordings archive, valid for 7 days, so you can keep copies of your own.

Can VICIdial backups go to your own S3 bucket?

Yes, on the Pro, Ultimate, Turbo and Hyper plans and on your own servers. Add an S3-compatible destination (AWS, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, Cloudflare R2 or MinIO) under External Backups, and each backup is copied into your bucket as well, where you decide how long it stays.

External backups copy the platform backups, so a daily copy needs the Platform Backup add-on too. The bucket’s access keys are stored encrypted.

What happens to the data when you cancel?

Before a server is deleted we take a final backup of its database and recordings and keep it for 90 days. Email support for a download link at any time in those 90 days.

A factory reset offers the same safety net: the reset dialog can email you a backup, with or without recordings, before anything is wiped.
