What does VICIdial cost to run from India?
VICIdial costs nothing to license, so what an Indian call center pays for is the server, the call minutes and the hours spent keeping both healthy. On VICIfast, servers start at $49 a month on shared cores and $249 on dedicated cores. Prices are in US dollars and per server: ten more agents on the same box add nothing to the bill until the box itself needs to grow.
Three common starting points, by region:
- Launch, for a pilot of up to 5 agents: $49 a month in the US, $59 in Singapore.
- Pro, suggested for 50 agents on a mixed floor: $399 in the US, $429 in Singapore.
- Surge, eight dedicated cores for steady predictive dialing: $449 in the US, $499 in Singapore.
Suggested agent counts assume a typical mix. An outbound campaign on a predictive dialer at three lines per agent keeps roughly three live calls up per agent, so put your own numbers into the capacity calculator before choosing. Minutes are billed by your SIP trunk provider, not by us, and daily backups are a paid add-on.
Can an Indian BPO host its dialer outside India?
For an international process, India's telecom department has allowed it with conditions. The Department of Telecommunications' guidelines for Other Service Providers (OSPs), dated 5 November 2020, let an international OSP keep its EPABX at a foreign location. The same document asks OSPs to keep a copy of CDRs and system logs at one of their centres in India, hold CDRs and logs for one year, and synchronise CDR time stamps with Indian Standard Time. It also says the EPABX of a domestic OSP, one serving clients inside India, must be located in India.
Read the version in force with your counsel before you pick a region. If you need VICIdial's call records copied every night to a server you control in India, that is the kind of export our custom integrations team quotes fixed-fee, in writing.
Which VICIfast region should agents in India use?
Singapore is the VICIfast region nearest India and the one to test first, though the right answer also depends on where your SIP carrier connects. Agents in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru or Chennai reach Singapore over a much shorter path than they reach Ashburn or Hillsboro, which helps the agent screen and the browser phone. The cost of that choice is a longer link between the server and a US carrier. A US server reverses it: short to the carrier, long for every agent.
Put numbers on it instead of guessing. The ViciBox documentation from the VICIdial project treats latency under 100 ms as good and says audio suffers once jitter averages above 100 ms. Trace the route from one agent's home connection to a trial server in each region, and compare packet loss, jitter and latency side by side.
Can agents in India work from home on VICIdial?
Yes, and the 2020 OSP guidelines treat home agents as remote agents of the OSP centre, allowed to work from anywhere in India. On the VICIdial side, an agent needs the agent screen in a browser and a headset; VICIfast's branded webphone supplies the phone inside that browser tab. When a home connection's address changes, the agent signs back in through a firewall portal on your own domain with their VICIdial login, and you can require a code from an authenticator app as well. Agents who take calls on a phone can use the free Android app.
One habit prevents the most trouble: a cable. The ViciBox docs put it plainly - Wi-Fi "should never ever be used for anything" - and suggest buying work-from-home agents a very long network cable.
What shift do Indian agents work for US campaigns?
US campaigns put Indian agents on an evening-to-morning shift: in US summer, East Coast leads open at 5:30 p.m. IST and West Coast leads close at 9:30 a.m. IST. Federal US rules allow calls from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in each lead's local time, and India does not use daylight saving, so everything moves an hour later when US clocks go back on 1 November 2026, until they go forward again on 14 March 2027.
- Eastern leads: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. IST in US summer; 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. in US winter.
- All 48 contiguous states open at once: 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. IST in summer; 9:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. in winter.
- Pacific leads: until 9:30 a.m. IST in summer; until 10:30 a.m. in winter.
VICIdial's Local Call Time setting on each campaign enforces the window lead by lead, so one overnight shift can work the East Coast first and the West Coast later.
Which rules apply: US rules or TRAI?
The number you dial decides. Calls to US numbers follow US law: the TCPA's calling hours, the National Do Not Call Registry, and the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule, which the FTC says applies to calls from outside the United States that reach US consumers. Our TCPA guide maps those rules to VICIdial settings, and TCPA litigator scrubbing checks numbers before they are dialed, using your own scrubbing account. Commercial calls to Indian numbers fall under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and its Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018. None of this is legal advice.
How do you pay from India?
Pay in US dollars by card, PayPal or USDT; we do not bill in rupees. The free trial needs a card or a PayPal subscription on file and charges nothing for 7 days. Make sure your card is enabled for international online payments before you start.
Where VICIfast is not the right fit
A domestic process that has to keep its dialer in India should look elsewhere: VICIfast has no India region, and Singapore is our nearest. So should a team that needs invoices in rupees.
Where to start
Start the free trial in Singapore or the US, have one agent place test calls from home, then compare the two. Questions about OSP record-keeping or regions? Ask us - a person reads every message, and sales questions get an answer by the next business day.
