What server does VICIdial need for 80 agents?
For 80 agents dialing predictive at three lines each, VICIdial needs Turbo, a 32-core dedicated server that peaks at about 46%; 80 inbound or manual agents fit Ultimate with 16 shared cores. VICIfast hosts it as managed VICIdial: your own server and the same VICIdial admin, with patching, firewall, SSL and 24/7 monitoring run for you.
| How the floor dials | Calls at peak | Smallest server that fits | Peak CPU |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outbound, predictive 3 lines per waiting agent | 240 | Turbo · 32 dedicated cores · $1,899/mo | 46% |
| Inbound every agent on a call, 10% more waiting | 88 | Ultimate · 16 shared cores · $749/mo | 47% |
| Manual dialing one line per agent | 80 | Ultimate · 16 shared cores · $749/mo | 45% |

Each row is 80 agents dialing a different way. The tiles under the table belong to the predictive row, and at this size they matter as much as the server: the carrier has to carry every one of those calls. The agent counts on pricing are suggestions for a typical mix; a predictive floor needs more than its headcount suggests because it carries about three live calls per agent.
How many carrier channels do 80 agents need?
Ask your SIP carrier for about 290 concurrent channels for an 80-agent predictive floor - the 240 live calls at the busiest minute plus headroom. If the channel limit is below your peak, the carrier refuses calls the dialer places and agents sit waiting. Bandwidth is about 28 Mbps at peak, counting the carrier leg of each call and each agent's audio. Settle these before 80 agents log in:
| Ask the carrier | Why it matters at 80 agents |
|---|---|
| About 290 concurrent channels | Covers 240 calls at peak with room for a busy minute |
| STIR/SHAKEN A attestation | Partial or gateway attestation gets calls labelled or blocked |
| How fast they review abuse reports | A trunk suspended on a Friday stops the whole floor for the weekend |
| Minimum billable duration | Short and unanswered calls add up at predictive volume |
| A second route | Failover keeps the floor dialing if one carrier has a bad hour |
Trunk management groups up to eight outbound trunks into a failover route, and lets you split inbound and outbound across different carriers. The VICIdial carrier integration guide covers the setup; VICIfast Voice, our own SIP trunk built for VICIdial, is there if you would rather not run that search yourself.
How do caller ID and drop rate change at this volume?
At 240 lines at once, the same caller IDs reach far more people every hour and a small error in dial pace drops far more calls, so both need a daily look, not a monthly one.
- Drop rate. US rules cap abandoned calls at 3% of answered calls, measured per campaign over 30 days. VICIdial's adaptive dial methods slow the dial level as the drop rate nears the target you set, so set the target below 3%, not at it. The predictive dialer guide explains the settings.
- Caller ID. Use numbers you control with full attestation, and watch for spam labels: a labelled number gets far fewer answers, and on a predictive floor that shows up as agents waiting. Predictive dialing best practices covers both.
How do supervisors keep up with 80 agents?
With a live floor view that shows every agent's state and how long they have been in it, and a way to listen to any call as it happens. Two tools do that on VICIfast:
- Floor monitoring - who is talking, paused or waiting, and for how long, filtered by campaign or in-group, in a dense grid built for big floors.
- Live monitor - listen silently, whisper to the agent only, or barge into the call. There is no per-supervisor licence, and VICIdial logs who listened to which call.
When don't 80 agents need 290 channels?
When they take inbound calls or dial by hand. 80 inbound agents run about 88 calls at peak and 80 manual agents about 80, so the carrier and bandwidth figures shrink to match, and Ultimate carries the floor. Size the carrier for your own busiest minute, not for the predictive row.
Where to start
Run your mix through the capacity calculator: it gives the server, the carrier channels and the bandwidth together, so you can send your carrier a number before you sign anything. Then start the 7-day free trial (card required), connect your carrier or VICIfast Voice, and talk to us if you want a person to check the plan.
