What server does VICIdial need for 70 agents?
For 70 agents dialing predictive at three lines each, VICIdial needs Turbo, a 32-core dedicated server; for 70 inbound or manual agents, Ultimate with 16 shared cores is enough. VICIfast gives you that server as managed VICIdial hosting: the same VICIdial and the same agent screen, with the server side run for you.
| How the floor dials | Calls at peak | Smallest server that fits | Peak CPU |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outbound, predictive 3 lines per waiting agent | 210 | Turbo · 32 dedicated cores · $1,899/mo | 40% |
| Inbound every agent on a call, 10% more waiting | 77 | Ultimate · 16 shared cores · $749/mo | 41% |
| Manual dialing one line per agent | 70 | Ultimate · 16 shared cores · $749/mo | 39% |

Each row is 70 agents dialing a different way, with every call recorded. The plan in each row is the cheapest one that keeps the busiest minute under its CPU ceiling - 60% on shared cores, 70% on dedicated. The agent counts on pricing are suggestions for a typical mix; a predictive floor needs more than its headcount suggests because it carries about three live calls per agent.
Why does a 70-agent predictive floor jump to 32 cores?
Because 210 live calls are more than 16 dedicated cores carry under the 70% ceiling, and the next plan up has twice the cores, so the floor lands on Turbo with plenty left over - about 40% at peak. That spare room is not waste. The same Turbo carries 80 predictive agents at about 46% and 100 at about 58%, so a growing floor can add agents, raise the dial level or bring inbound onto the server without moving again. VICIdial server cost by agent count shows how the price steps line up with these jumps.
How does inbound change a 70-agent floor?
Inbound is lighter than predictive because each agent holds one call at a time: 70 inbound agents run about 77 calls at peak, counting callers waiting in queue, and fit Ultimate. A blended floor sits between the rows.
| Floor | What counts at the busiest minute | Server for 70 agents |
|---|---|---|
| Predictive outbound | Three lines per waiting agent: 210 calls | Turbo |
| Inbound only | Calls in progress plus callers in queue: about 77 | Ultimate |
| Manual dialing | One line per agent: 70 calls | Ultimate |
| Blended | Outbound lines plus inbound calls at the same minute | Run it in the calculator |
Count both at the same minute. If inbound peaks mid-morning and outbound peaks late in the afternoon, the server carries the busiest single minute, which can be well below the two peaks added together. The VICIdial dialing strategies guide covers how VICIdial blends inbound calls into an outbound campaign.
How much storage do 70 agents' recordings need?
About 21 GB a day for eight hours of calling with every call recorded - more than 100 GB in a five-day week. VICIdial records only calls connected to an agent, so storage grows with agents and talk time, not with lines dialed. The "days of recordings on disk" tile above shows how long the server holds them before they have to move. Decide where they go before the disk decides for you:
| Where recordings live | How long | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|
| On the server | Until the disk fills - see the tile | You |
| Daily platform backup, an add-on | 7 days, rolling | VICIfast |
| Your own S3-compatible bucket | Whatever your lifecycle rule says | You |
The daily backup add-on takes the database and the new recordings every night and keeps seven days. If clients or regulators expect calls to be kept for months, as is common in debt collection, add External Backups: they push the database and recordings to your own S3-compatible bucket, and the retention is whatever you set on that bucket.
When is Turbo more than you need?
If your 70 agents take inbound calls or dial by hand, Ultimate carries them and Turbo is money spent on cores you will not use. And if only 60 of the 70 dial predictive at the busiest minute, Velocity fits: size for agents dialing at once, not the payroll.
Where to start
Put your floor into the capacity calculator with your real mix of outbound lines and inbound calls; for a blended floor it is the only honest way to size. Then start the 7-day free trial (card required) - the Setup Wizard builds a campaign, user groups, logins with browser phones and an inbound line in about five minutes.
