Drop list
A list VICIdial moves abandoned or dropped calls into, so you can track or recycle the leads that the dialer connected but could not staff with an agent.
A drop list is a destination for leads whose calls were dropped. When a predictive dialer connects to a live person but has no agent free, that call counts as an Abandoned call, and VICIdial can move the matching Lead into a drop list so the record is not just lost in the pile. It gives those near-misses a clear home instead of leaving them mixed in with untouched data.
The point is recovery. A person who answered and got dropped is still a warm prospect; they picked up the phone and were willing to talk. Parking them in a drop list lets you call them back deliberately, often on a slower Campaign where the Drop rate stays low because you are not overdialing. That second attempt frequently connects when the first one stumbled.
Behind the scenes this is a Called status change plus a list move. The lead keeps its full history but gets a fresh home, which makes Lead recycling cleaner: you recycle the drop list on its own schedule instead of churning your whole main list and re-dialing people you already reached. Want fewer drops in the first place so this list stays small? See how to lower your VICIdial drop rate.
Set up the drop list before you run hot, not after the fact. Configure the Campaign to route dropped calls into it, and decide up front how quickly you will call those people back. A drop that you ring again within minutes still feels like a normal connection to the customer; one you ignore for a week is a wasted answer and a worse experience for someone who was ready to engage.
The drop list also doubles as a health check on your dialing. If it fills up fast, your pacing is too aggressive and your Drop rate is climbing past where regulators are comfortable. Treat a swelling drop list as a signal to ease off, not just a pile of records to recall. Watching its size over time tells you whether your settings are sustainable or quietly building a compliance problem.
