vs Five9 — escaping per-agent pricing

Five9 is the CCaaS leader. The economics break around 30–40 agents. Honest comparison + when managed VICIdial wins.

Five9 is the established cloud contact center suite — CRM, WFM, QM, speech analytics, all in one pane of glass. It's a real product for the enterprise call center. It's also priced like one: per-agent fees that compound past 30–40 agents into a six-figure annual line item. This page is for the operator looking at the renewal and asking what else is out there.

Where Five9 wins

  • All-in-one suite — CRM + WFM + QM + speech analytics integrated. If you don't have any of those today and don't want to assemble them, Five9 is one purchase order to fix it.
  • Enterprise sales motion — dedicated CSM, integration team, professional services. If you need a vendor to do the bring-up for you, they will (you'll pay for it).
  • Built-in reporting depth — their BI is genuinely good. No SQL needed.
  • Newer voice-AI features — conversational IVR, sentiment analysis, AI agent assist. If those are core to your roadmap and you don't want to wire them in yourself, Five9 ships them.

Where VICIfast wins

  • Pricing — the headline difference. A 50-agent shop pays Five9 in the $7,500–10,000/month range. The same shop on VICIfast pays $129–199/month for the server, plus your SIP carrier directly. The math doesn't get close, especially as agent count grows.
  • No vendor lock-in — VICIdial is open source. Your campaign data, leads, recordings, dispositions live in a regular MariaDB schema. Move them anywhere.
  • BYO SIP — keep your carrier relationships. Switch carriers without changing dialer providers. Five9 bundles carrier minutes on most plans, which means switching SIP means switching everything.
  • Speed — server provisioned in under 60 seconds. Five9 is a multi-week enterprise sales cycle.
  • Per-trunk TCPA scrubbing — bring your own Blacklist Alliance API key, set the mode per outbound carrier (different debt portfolios, different compliance contracts). See /features/tcpa-compliance.
  • Customisation — VICIdial is fully scriptable. Custom AGIs, custom dispositions, custom call flows. Five9 is configurable within their suite, but the suite is the ceiling.

The pricing math

The honest comparison at common floor sizes:

| Floor size | Five9 (~$175/agent) | VICIfast (server + your SIP) | | ---------- | ------------------- | ---------------------------- | | 15 agents | ~$2,625 / mo | ~$129 + carrier minutes | | 30 agents | ~$5,250 / mo | ~$199 + carrier minutes | | 60 agents | ~$10,500 / mo | ~$399 + carrier minutes | | 100 agents | ~$17,500 / mo | ~$599 + carrier minutes |

Your carrier (Twilio / Telnyx / Bandwidth) is the same on both sides; on Five9 it's hidden in the per-agent line item, on VICIfast you see it directly.

When to pick Five9

  • You want a fully bundled CCaaS suite and the per-agent cost works for your budget.
  • You need conversational IVR / AI agent-assist as a core feature, not a Phase 2 add-on.
  • Your procurement requires enterprise contracts, signed MSAs, dedicated CSMs.
  • You don't have engineering bandwidth to wire CRM / WFM / analytics separately and don't plan to.

Five9 is a real product. If those align with your operation, the per-agent price is what you're paying for.

When to pick VICIfast

  • You're feeling the per-agent pricing past 30–40 agents and the renewal math is painful.
  • You already use a CRM you like (Salesforce / HubSpot / Pipedrive) and don't need another one bundled.
  • You want carrier control — pick your SIP provider, switch when rates change.
  • You want to own your data — recordings on your server, audit log in your DB, no export blockers.
  • Your team has (or can hire) one person who knows VICIdial. Most ops shops do.

Migration

Migrating off Five9 isn't a one-click affair — different software, different schema, no automatic export of Five9's data into VICIdial's tables. What we do:

  • Pull your existing agent list + dispositions + DID inventory from Five9 reports
  • Re-create the closer-group + IVR routing structure inside VICIdial admin
  • Connect your existing carrier (BYO SIP) instead of Five9's bundled minutes
  • Migrate recordings if needed (Five9 export → S3)

Most Five9 → VICIfast migrations take 1–3 weeks of parallel running while you wind down the Five9 contract. We help — contact us if you're planning the move.

Start a 7-day trial → — no card. The platform's free for the trial period; your SIP carrier bills you whatever they always do.
