VICIfast vs VICIhost: which should you pick?

VICIhost is the VICIdial Group's own hosted service, and it publishes its numbers: $1,000 to provision, $400 per server per month, minutes at 1.5¢. Pick them if buying minutes and setup hours from the group that maintains VICIdial suits how you buy. Pick VICIfast for a self-serve price, no setup fee, and your own carrier.

Both sides run the same open-source VICIdial: same /vicidial/admin.php, same agent screen, same campaign IDs. What differs is the commercial shape - how you buy, whether minutes come from your host, and what a server costs per month.

One correction to an earlier version of this page: we used to describe VICIhost as quote-only with "commonly cited" figures. That was wrong. They publish a full price list on their Features page. Everything below is quoted from it, checked 7 September 2026.

• They publish the whole price list. Setup, monthly, per-minute, per-DID, billing increments, and the note that minutes are prepaid - all of it on one page. Most managed VICIdial hosts make you email for a quote. This is verifiable and it is worth crediting.
• Setup hours are part of the deal. Their Features page states "eight(8) hours of initial setup support and one hour per month of free tech support." If you want hands on your build rather than documentation, that is written down.
• You do not need a carrier. Minutes and DIDs come from them at published rates. If you have no carrier relationship and do not want one, that removes a real chunk of setup work - and unlike a bundled-and-unpriced arrangement, you can see exactly what the minutes cost.
• Month-to-month, stated. Their page says "Month-to-month terms, no long-term contracts."
• A long trading record. The domain vicihost.com was registered on 2 October 2007 and the site has been continuously maintained; the copyright line reads 2026. Their About page dates the group's founding to 2007.
• A direct line to the project. Their About page names Matt Florell as VICIdial's original creator and primary developer. The connection is visible in the infrastructure too: vicihost.com and vicidial.com resolve to the same web server, and the ViciBox ISOs ship from download.vicidial.com. If you want your host and your upstream to be the same people, that is what this is.

Where VICIfast wins

• No setup fee. Their first server carries a $1,000 provisioning fee and each additional server $500. Ours is nothing - you order and the box provisions.
• Self-serve. As of 7 September 2026 there is no cart, checkout or client area on vicihost.com; the only form on the site is the WordPress search box, and buying means a call or an email. On VICIfast you check out with a card, PayPal or USDT and a working VICIdial admin lands in under 40 seconds.
• Your own carrier, never resold. Bring Twilio, Telnyx, Bandwidth, Voxbeam or anyone else and pay their rate directly. We sell no minutes and no DIDs on any plan, so there is no per-minute or per-DID line on your invoice from us.
• A single-tenant box you can see into. A dedicated VPS in the region you choose, with root SSH and every session captured as a replayable asciinema cast. Recordings stay on your own machine.
• A trial before you pay. 7 days on the Launch plan with a card or PayPal on file, nothing charged until day 7, one click to cancel. VICIhost advertises no trial.
• White-label and reseller. On the higher plans you can put your own domain, logo and billing on top and resell VICIdial as your product. See /resellers, and /pricing for which tiers include it.
• A dashboard over the dialer. Trunk management with partner templates, audit log, sub-users with roles, public status page, self-serve firewall, and per-trunk TCPA scrubbing with your own Blacklist Alliance key.

A note on pricing

Their numbers, quoted verbatim from the Features page on 7 September 2026: "$1,000 initial server provisioning fee (also covers the 1st month of hosting)", "$500 server provisioning fee for each additional server", "$400 per server per month hosting fee (after first month) plus cost of minutes", "1.5 cents per minute for outbound calls as well as inbound toll calls", "2.8 cents per minute for inbound toll-free calls", "$2.50 a month for each DID". All of it carries their footnote: "All costs and billing increments are subject to change."

The arithmetic below is ours, from their published figures - they do not publish an annual total.

We picked Growth for the comparison because VICIhost's published guarantee is "at least 25 agents at 3:1 line ratio" per server, and Growth is our ~25-agent tier. Compare against whichever of our tiers matches the floor you actually run - /pricing has the grid.

The structural difference is the minutes. Theirs are a published rate from your host; ours come from a carrier you choose and can change without changing dialer providers. Neither is wrong. One is simpler, one keeps the negotiation in your hands.

What to check before you buy

All observed on 7 September 2026:

• The domain vicihost.com was registered on 2 October 2007 through eNom. The registrant record is privacy-proxied; only "FL" and "US" survive the redaction.
• Prices live on the Features page at ?page_id=5, not on a pricing page - /pricing returns 404. Every figure carries the footnote "All costs and billing increments are subject to change."
• The 99.9% uptime guarantee carries an asterisk on their own pages, defined as: "Uptime is based off of a 15 hour (9am to 12am GMT -5) work day." If uptime matters to you, that is the window it covers.
• There is no checkout, cart or client area. /clientarea.php, /cart.php and /login all return 404, and the only <form> on the site is the WordPress search box. There is no contact form either - the Contact page gives a phone number and sales@vicidial.com.
• There is no terms-of-service page on the domain (/terms returns 404). The privacy policy is hosted off-domain, on vicidial.com.
• No street address and no company name carrying a corporate suffix appears on the site. The About page names Matt Florell as founder. The footer copyright reads 2026.
• Their marketing site reports WordPress 4.3.1 and PHP 5.4.20 in its response headers - both long past end of support. That describes the public website only and says nothing about the dialer platform, but it is what the headers return.
• The review listings we could find on the software directories are filed against VICIdial the open-source software, not against VICIhost the hosting service - so a rating you see for "VICIdial" is not a rating of this hosting product. Several review and company-data sites refused automated requests from our side, so we cannot tell you either way whether a VICIhost profile exists on them; check them yourself in a browser.

Things worth asking them in writing, because they are asserted on the site and we could not verify them: which named legal entity you would be contracting with; documentation for the "SSAE-16/SAS-70 certified" and "Tier-3" data-centre claims; whether the 99.9% figure can be widened beyond the 15-hour window; what the prepaid minute balance does if you leave; and a reference customer you can call.

When to pick VICIhost

These rest on things you can check yourself before you sign:

• You want the price list before the conversation, and theirs is published in full - setup, monthly, per-minute, per-DID.
• You want minutes and DIDs from your host at a stated rate rather than running a carrier relationship.
• You want setup hours written into the deal - their page commits to 8 initial hours plus 1 hour a month.
• You want month-to-month with no long-term contract, which their page states.
• You want your host and the group that maintains VICIdial to be the same people, and a vendor whose domain has been registered since 2007.

When to pick VICIfast

• You want to be live today without a phone call - self-serve checkout, working admin in under 40 seconds.
• You do not want a $1,000 provisioning fee, or $500 for each server after that.
• You want your own carrier at wholesale, never resold, and no per-DID line on your host's invoice.
• You want a single-tenant box you control - root SSH with recorded sessions, recordings on your own machine, in your chosen region.
• You want to try it first - 7 days on Launch, nothing charged until day 7.
• You want to white-label and resell VICIdial under your own brand, from Pro up.

Migration

Same VICIdial on both sides, so campaigns, lead IDs, dispositions, recordings and agent logins all carry over and nobody on your floor gets retrained. The cutover is a DNS flip plus a carrier-IP update.

The one real change is the carrier: VICIhost supplies your minutes, so part of the move is standing up your own SIP trunk and pointing it at the new box. Plan for any prepaid minute balance you are holding with them.
