Migrating from Five9 to managed VICIdial
Move from Five9 CCaaS to managed VICIdial — schema, workflow, change management.
Migrating from Five9 to VICIdial is a real project. Different software, different concept of campaigns, no automatic export. Here's the path teams use.
Why teams move
The pricing math. A 50-agent Five9 shop pays $7,500-10,000/mo. A 50-agent VICIdial shop on VICIfast pays $129-199/mo. That's $90-100K/year in difference, which funds a lot of integration work.
What stays the same
- Your SIP carrier (BYO on us)
- Your DIDs
- Your agent skill sets (training delta is small)
- Your CRM
What changes
- Software: Five9 proprietary → VICIdial open source
- CRM integration: Five9's native CTI → webhook-based
- Reporting: Five9 BI tool → VICIdial reports + your CRM/BI
- WFM: Five9 native → BYO (NICE WFM, Calabrio, Verint)
- Speech analytics: Five9 add-on → BYO (we recommend Observe.ai or CallMiner)
Schema migration
Five9 doesn't expose a clean export of campaign data. Approach:
- Lists: Export contacts from Five9 (the data is exportable from your CRM, where it should live anyway). Import to VICIdial as standard CSVs.
- Dispositions: Map Five9 disposition codes to VICIdial. Usually a 1:1 with light renaming.
- Agent users: Recreate in VICIdial. Same logins are fine; new passwords required.
- Campaigns: Rebuild — Five9's "campaign" concept is similar but settings don't transfer programmatically.
- Recordings: Five9 stores recordings on their cloud. Export via their API or download bulk before cancellation. Plan storage on VICIdial side.
Cutover strategy
Soft cutover is the right call. 2-3 week parallel-run:
- Week 1: New agents trained on VICIdial; pilot one non-critical campaign
- Week 2: Migrate priority campaigns one-by-one; existing campaigns stay on Five9
- Week 3: Final cutover, cancel Five9 (after their notice period)
