What the installer does on Ubuntu 24.04
The parts of a VICIdial scratch install that are particular to Ubuntu 24.04, and that a by-hand install has to get right.
- Ubuntu 24.04’s procps 4 cuts ps output short, so VICIdial’s keepalive cannot see its own daemons and starts duplicates every minute. The installer switches VICIdial’s process checks to ps -o pid, args.
- PHP 8.3 is Ubuntu’s own package, so no third-party repository is added.
- AppArmor is removed, as VICIdial’s own Ubuntu instructions do: its daemons, AGIs and web code write across /etc/asterisk, /var/lib/asterisk and /var/spool/asterisk, and a confining profile breaks them.
