What is the best GoAutoDial alternative?
For most GoAutoDial users the best alternative is stock VICIdial, because GoAutoDial already runs on it: the dialing engine, the database tables and the call handling underneath are VICIdial's.
That makes the choice smaller than it looks. Moving to VICIdial keeps the engine and the data you already have and drops one layer: GoAutoDial's own interface and API. Moving to a hosted per-agent dialer means new software, new training and converting your data. Other VICIdial alternatives are compared separately, if you want a different dialer altogether.
VICIfast is managed VICIdial hosting. You get your own VICIdial server with a branded HTTPS address and full root access, and we run the patching, firewall, SSL certificate and 24/7 monitoring.
Is GoAutoDial still maintained?
Yes, GoAutoDial is still being worked on, so it is not end of life, but it is worth knowing how it is maintained before you plan around it. We checked its GitHub organisation on 16 October 2026:
- The main v4.0 repository had commits merged on its master branch in July 2026, was pushed to in October 2026, and has a branch for a PHP 8.5 migration.
- It publishes no tagged releases or versions, so "the latest GoAutoDial" means whatever is on master that day.
- Five of the seven repositories in the organisation are archived.
- The README still recommends PHP 7.0 to 7.4, versions that no longer get security fixes from PHP.
None of that means you must leave. It means a self-hosted GoAutoDial box needs someone who builds from source and reads commit history, because there are no release notes to follow.
GoAutoDial vs VICIdial: what is the difference?
GoAutoDial and VICIdial share the same dialer; they differ in the interface on top and in who runs the server.
| GoAutoDial, self-hosted | Stock VICIdial on VICIfast | |
|---|---|---|
| Dialing engine | VICIdial, listed in its README as a core component | VICIdial |
| Admin interface | GoAutoDial's own web interface | The VICIdial admin, /vicidial/admin.php |
| Agent screen | GoAutoDial's own agent interface | The VICIdial agent screen, with an optional modern theme |
| API | GoAutoDial's REST API | VICIdial's Agent API and Non-Agent API |
| Install | You install it | Ready in under 40 seconds |
| Patching and firewall | You | VICIfast |
| Cost | Free software, plus your server and your time | From $49 a month per server |

How do you migrate from GoAutoDial to VICIdial?
Migrating from GoAutoDial to VICIdial is an ordinary VICIdial-to-VICIdial data move, because GoAutoDial stores its data in VICIdial's own tables. On VICIfast it runs like this:
- Start a VICIfast server to be the destination. The free trial works for this.
- In the migration screen, give it SSH access to your GoAutoDial box. A read-only probe lists what will be copied before you approve. It needs to read
/etc/astguiclient.conf, so use root or a user with passwordless sudo. - Plan a window: pause every campaign and log agents out. The copy refuses to start while anyone is dialing.
- The copy brings across campaigns, lists, leads, users, statuses, your DNC list, in-groups, DIDs, call history and custom AGI scripts. Recordings follow in the background.
- Add your carrier trunks on the new server and ask your carrier to allow its IP address. Carrier settings are never copied.
- Test calls on every trunk and in-group, then send agents to the new address.
The table-by-table detail is in the GoAutoDial migration guide, and the dashboard steps are on the migration page. Planning the move with us costs nothing; a done-for-you migration is a paid add-on.
What do you give up when you leave GoAutoDial?
You give up the GoAutoDial interface and API, not your data.
- The interface. Managers use the VICIdial admin and agents use the VICIdial agent screen. It is a different screen, not a reskin, so budget training time.
- The REST API. Integrations written against GoAutoDial's API need porting to VICIdial's APIs. We can quote that as fixed-fee custom integration work.
- The extra components. GoAutoDial's README lists pieces such as Kamailio, NodeJS and SocketIO. None of them run on a VICIfast server.
- GoAutoDial-only tables. They arrive as tables you can query, but nothing on the new server reads them.
Where VICIfast is not the right fit
- Your floor is built around GoAutoDial's interface or API, and retraining or porting costs more than running the box yourself.
- You have an in-house administrator and no budget. Free software on hardware you already own is cheaper than any managed host.
- Managed hosting is ruled out by a contract or compliance rule.
Where to start
Start the 7-day free trial, migrate a copy of your GoAutoDial data, and let your supervisors work both screens side by side before you move the floor. If you are not sure what your integrations depend on, send us a note - a person reads every message. Once you are on VICIdial, our VICIdial login guide explains the admin and agent logins your team will use.
