RPC (Right Party Contact)

A call where the agent reaches the actual intended person — the foundational outcome for outbound campaigns.

RPC = Right Party Contact. A call where the dialer reached the actual intended person — not a wrong number, voicemail, or third party.

Outbound campaigns are measured in RPCs, not raw call counts. 1000 dials might produce 80 RPCs, of which 12 close.

RPC rate

RPCs / Total live answers — typical:

  • B2C cold list: 30-50% RPC rate
  • B2B: 15-30%
  • Existing-customer outreach: 70-90%

Why it matters

Agent time costs the same whether they're talking to the right party or a wrong-number. RPC rate is the leading indicator of campaign efficiency.

Improving RPC

  • Better list hygiene (RND check, append data)
  • Caller ID (A-attestation = more answers from the right people)
  • Time-of-day targeting
  • Skip-trace data appended to old lists
