vs Vonage — Salesforce-first contact centre, no predictive mode
Vonage publishes VBC phone pricing but quotes its Contact Center, and its dialer documents only preview and automatic modes. Honest comparison with managed VICIdial.

VICIdial vs Vonage: which should you pick?
Pick Vonage if you are a Salesforce shop that wants its Contact Center wired tightly into that CRM, and a quoted contract is fine. Pick managed VICIdial on VICIfast if you need predictive dialing — Vonage's own dialer documentation lists only preview and automatic modes — plus published per-server pricing and your own carrier.
Vonage sells two products that show up in this evaluation, and mixing them up will waste your time. Vonage Business Communications (VBC) is unified communications — a cloud business phone system with published prices. Vonage Contact Center (VCC) is the contact centre product, quoted rather than published, and built very tightly around Salesforce.
If you are shopping for an outbound dialer, VCC is the one to look at, and the Salesforce coupling is the first thing to check.

How much does Vonage cost?
VBC publishes list prices per month per extension, tiered by how many seats you buy. At one line the tiers are Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 and Advanced $39.99; at the largest published bands they fall to roughly $14.99, $24.99 and $34.99. Vonage's own footnote is important: "Taxes and fees not included. Additional charges may apply." Treat those as pre-tax list prices, not your invoice.
Vonage also advertises a percentage discount for annual contracts. We are deliberately not quoting the promo rate — the end date is inconsistent across Vonage's own pages, so price against the list and treat any discount as a negotiation outcome.
VCC does not publish prices. The Contact Center plans page shows two tiers, Priority and Premium, each behind a "Get your quote" form. If you are pricing an outbound floor, VCC is the product you need and the number is not public. Ask for it in writing, and ask what is included versus what is an add-on.
VICIfast publishes the whole grid — $139/month for Growth in the US at a suggested 25 agents, $249/month for Pro at 50 — billed per server, no tax-and-fees asterisk on the platform price. See VICIfast pricing.
Does Vonage have a predictive dialer?
No vendor documentation describes one. Vonage's own dialer capabilities page documents exactly two modes: Preview, where agents can flag and skip calls, and Automatic, which presents the next contact and dials it. It also covers voicemail drop, dynamic dial lists and caller-ID presentation. The word "predictive" does not appear on that page.
Vonage does publish educational articles explaining the difference between preview, progressive and predictive dialers. That is content marketing, not a product claim — do not read it as a feature list.
Two further constraints on the dialer worth knowing:
- It is Contact Center only. VBC, the product with the published prices, does not have it.
- It is Salesforce-shaped. The page headline is "Simplified integrated dialing with Vonage and Salesforce" and the features are framed as dialing from inside your CRM. If you run Salesforce, that is a genuine strength. If you run HubSpot, Pipedrive or something in-house, ask carefully what the dialer looks like without Salesforce underneath it.
VICIdial ships predictive alongside progressive, preview and manual on every plan, and integrates with your CRM by webhook, polling or custom AGI — Salesforce included, but nothing depends on it.
Can you bring your own carrier to Vonage?
Partly, and the details matter because Vonage uses "BYOC" for two different things.
- Bring your own Carrier exists on the Voice API product, configured through their SIP dashboard. Vonage's documentation states plainly that it applies to inbound calls only. That is a significant limit for an outbound floor.
- BYOC for CCaaS is a different product that brings contact-centre channels into Salesforce. It is not a carrier feature, and it is described as a pilot.
We could not verify any BYOC path for VBC or for VCC voice from a Vonage source. The accurate statement is that Vonage's documented carrier BYOC is on the Voice API and inbound-only.
VICIfast is BYO carrier in both directions on every plan. Your trunk, your rate, inbound and outbound, never resold.
What should you check about the contract?
This is the part most comparison pages skip, and Vonage states it clearly enough to quote. New annual accounts require a minimum one-year contract. Cancelling during an annual term is subject to early termination fees, which Vonage says can "range up to the total price of your service contract". Monthly plans have no early-termination fee, but no refunds either.
None of that is unusual for the category. It is worth reading before you sign, because a one-year commitment with a full-contract-value exit fee is a different risk profile from month-to-month.
VICIfast is month to month. Cancel and you stop being billed.
When is Vonage the better choice?
- You live in Salesforce. Vonage's Salesforce integration is the deepest in this comparison — Premier for Service Cloud Voice, dialing natively inside the CRM. If your agents never leave Salesforce, that is worth real money.
- You need a business phone system with published prices and self-serve checkout. VBC is genuinely easy to buy, and the entry tier is cheap.
- Outbound is preview or automatic anyway. If agents review each record before dialing, you do not need predictive pacing.
- You want one vendor for UC and contact centre with a single support relationship.
When is managed VICIdial the better choice?
- You need predictive dialing. Vonage documents preview and automatic. For a volume outbound floor that gap is the business case.
- You want to know the price before a sales call. VCC is quote-only; our grid is on the website.
- Your CRM is not Salesforce, or you want the dialer to be independent of whichever CRM you use next.
- You need outbound carrier control. Vonage's documented BYOC is inbound-only and on a different product. Ours is your trunk, both directions, never resold.
- Per-trunk TCPA scrubbing. Bring your own Blacklist Alliance key and set the litigator-scrub mode per outbound carrier. See /features/tcpa-compliance.
- Month-to-month matters and a one-year contract with early-termination exposure does not fit how you want to buy.
How do you move from Vonage to VICIdial?
Check your contract end date first — with annual terms carrying early-termination fees, the migration is usually timed to the renewal rather than run immediately. Port your DIDs to your new SIP carrier, allowing two to seven days, and do not cancel until porting completes.
Contacts come from your CRM, not from Vonage. If your workflow lived inside Salesforce, plan how agents will work without the embedded dialer — VICIdial's agent screen becomes the primary surface, with the CRM updated by webhook. That is the real change-management item, more than any technical step.
