Telnyx SIP for VICIdial

Telnyx is the Twilio alternative that scales better economically — API-first, strong attestation, ~40% cheaper per minute. IP-auth and credential-auth both work; the dashboard lets you pick at trunk-add time.

What you'll need from Telnyx

• A Telnyx account (portal.telnyx.com)
• A SIP Connection (Mission Control → SIP Trunking → SIP Connections)
• Either:
  • Credentialed mode → SIP username + password from the connection, OR
  • IP-auth mode → your server's IPv4 added to the connection's Allowed IPs
• A phone number purchased and assigned to your SIP Connection

Add the trunk

Dashboard → your server → Manage Trunks → + Add trunk.

For IP-auth, switch Auth mode to "IP auth" and skip the credentials — the platform adds Telnyx's source-IP identify block to pjsip.conf and you whitelist your server's IPv4 in the Telnyx connection.

Plus the dialplan entry on vicidial_carriers keyed off the auto-allocated 4-digit prefix.

Inbound DIDs

In Telnyx Portal → your DID → Voice → set Connection to your SIP Connection. Telnyx routes inbound calls via the SIP signal automatically — no webhook needed for VICIdial. Then add the DID in Manage Trunks → Inbound DIDs with the routing target.

Caveats

• Number activation: Telnyx requires LOAs + ID for international DIDs in some countries. Domestic US DIDs activate within minutes.
• Attestation: A-attestation on Telnyx DIDs; B/C if you spoof CallerID with a number not on your account.
• Region: pick a Telnyx POP close to your VICIfast server's region (e.g. sip.telnyx.com is geo-routed but you can also pin to a regional FQDN like chicago.voice.telnyx.com for predictable latency).
• Rate notes: ~$0.005/min outbound US, ~$0.0035/min inbound US local, ~$1.00/mo per DID. Confirm in your Telnyx portal — published rates change.
