Progressive dialing
Less aggressive than predictive — dialer waits for an agent to be free before dialing next.
Progressive dialing dials one number per agent, waiting for the agent to wrap up the previous call before dialing the next.
In VICIdial: Dial Method = ADAPT_HARD_LIMIT or ADAPT_TAPERED are progressive variants.
Trade-offs
- vs Predictive: lower agent utilization (no overlap) but zero abandonment.
- vs Manual: faster than click-to-dial but slower than predictive.
When to use
- TCPA-shy environments where you want zero risk of abandonment
- Mid-value B2B / B2C calls
- Less-than-stable connect rates where prediction is unreliable
