Live monitor extension

Barge, whisper, listen on any agent call. Standard VICIdial monitor extension with the firewall in front.

VICIdial ships three supervisor monitoring modes: silent listen, whisper to agent, and full barge into the call. The Live Monitor feature surfaces those through a single extension that supervisors register against from any softphone.

How it works

  1. Configure the monitor extension at your server → Live Monitor Extension.

  2. Register a softphone (Zoiper, Linphone, the VICIdial webphone, or a hardware SIP phone) against the extension.

  3. Dial in and choose:

    • *1 — silent listen (agent + customer hear nothing)

    • *2 — whisper (only the agent hears the supervisor)

    • *3 — barge (full three-way)

Why it's IP-whitelisted

The monitor extension is on by default but reachable only from IPs in your firewall whitelist. No drive-by listening from the public internet — supervisors connect from the office, the agent self-serve portal, or a known home-office IP.

Logging

Every supervisor monitor session is recorded in VICIdial's vicidial_supervisor_log table: who, when, which agent, which mode. AuditLog also captures the dashboard-side config changes.

vs. Floor Monitoring

Floor Monitoring is the visual real-time view of agent state. Live Monitor is the audio path. Use both — they're complementary. Floor tells you WHICH call to listen to; Live Monitor lets you listen.
